'08 MS3 Winter Tires

Hey everyone, first time poster. I got my MS3 a month ago and really enjoy it. Living in the Pittburgh area, I need snow tires for the winter. From reading on the web, it seems like I can buy 16" steel rims and they will fit over the brakes. My question is, can I use my snow tires from last year on my '08 MS3? They are 205/55-16 Conti ExtremeWinterContacts. The tire rack doesn't recommend the those size tire with their steel rims. Am I missing something? Thanks
