06 EVO IX MR vs. 06/07 WRX STi. I have a few questions.

Sunday I got to ride in a IXMR and its pretty cool, i didnt hate car's interior at all. The carbon fiber panels and hand brake gave a small but sutle touch to it...the recaro seats were defintaly not the cloth ones I tried on my friend's VIII. The car over all was awesome. I dont know what people complain about a 30K 'racing' inspired/directed vehicle. If you say it is a GT3 RS, then go ahead a creticize the interior, but youaint getting much out of the EVO nor the STi. Hell, the hood scoop on the STi rattles at high speeds. So what?

as Jred said, I ended up finding out Cali has the best prices for new Evos. They sale the EVO IX for 28K (starting price) and the MRs for 32K. All prices exclude government fees and taxes; any finance charges; any dealer document preparation charge; and any emission testing charge. How much will all those non-included prices add to the starting price? I also calculate around $800 for transportation...the car is 2274 miles from my driveway lol

I was looking also into the STi's and found a new 07 STi for 32.5K MSRP ( taxes, registration, transportation to the dealership and other miscellaneous fees are not included) within 20miles, so that's $800 less I have to pay for transportation.

The Evo gets better response out of the 2 on mods, but I will also have to spend 1.7K plus $600 on installation for the Twin Plate Exedy clutch which is the only clutch I will go with if I ever get the Evo. So There's a good balance there.

What yall think? I have seen both cars and liked them both, I can honestly say the differences are closer since one is a bit more exciting but the other one is a bit more DD suitable.

So now we're talking numbers/Gs. Which one is a better deal?

I have never bought a car online/from afar. So I don't know how that goes...any advice/experiences?

My car is DD. I have nothing but good experiences with mine so far. I also have a friend who has the 06 STI and it's very nice as well. The suspension on the STI is bit more refined for street(Stock vs Stock). The STI definitly felt bit more street friendly, while mine felt a bit rough compare to his. Once we get going though, Evo is like a scalpel. And I happen to like that.

It's really up to what you prefer. I'd say go Evo(go figure) but I have nothing but nice things to say about STI. I prefer the the rebel looking exterior and the recaro seat. I have 2 din nav installed, so the interior is a bit more upgraded and I'm very happy with the general feel for the interior.

As for southcoast Mitsubishi, I've heard good and bad stories. But they have dealt with many out of state folks, so it should be fine. I'd try to hit your local dealers and see if they can match. That's what I did and they got close enough I bought it from them. I least I saw the car and test drove it. That's one thing about buying from out of state...you don't get to see em until you buy em and that scares me a bit.

Good luck.(rockon)
