03' Mazdaspeed Protege Exhaust

u see those mufflers.... were designed to fit with custom exhaust pipings, u need to go to a muffler shop so they can weld them onto the pipes... so yea

if i get that and i bring it to the muffler shop will they be able to install the muffler??

ha i would get a full exhaust system. but im only 16 and i cant afford a full one. im lowering my car and i want a better muffler..lol fart can..thats funny

i wouldnt do it if i were u... if ur drooling over the 5-10hp increase in the description which i doubt it that u r, its a lie obviously you'll get no gains... stock sounds nice enough until u can get a nice used catback better yet full tbe... here on the forums or something, and also lowering the car shouldnt be the first thing to worry about unless u take it to the tracks or autox with it or something, 1. because of the roads/bumps 2. could use the money for some go fast mods 3. stock height on msp's are alright not too much wheel gaps.. i've checked out like 3 of em already 2 of em stock height and they look nice

edit: dude ur 16 and have such a nice car?? i just turned 19 and i want an msp soo bad

ha ok thanks people. i guess i wont get that cheap ass fart can lol.. do you know where i can get a full exhaust system thats not to expensive but yet still good??

well its kinda hard to do that, and a bit challenging of a mod to tackle....its not easy to get the turbo studs off

BUT

take a look around the forums for a 3" Thermal R&D CAT-Back exhaust
it is a great sound, not over powering, but still prevalent, youll like it

and if you can afford it get a high-flow midpipe (unless your state allows a no-cat midpipe, which you will see some performance gains from)

u gotta wait for a good deal man... there are used ones here for sale on the forums, either custom or name brands... i'd go for vibrant cuz they look and sound nice, but there isnt one for sale thats used, so u gotta wait for a good deal, just save up for now since ur so young... and when a good deal comes up, grab it.. but its ur car, modding is fun, do whatever u feel like doing man

so how much are the 3" thermal R&d CAT-Back exhaust?? are the high-flow midpipe illegal in Washington?? how much is that?

I got my thermal for 200 shipped, but they may be more

I like the vibrant too but typically youll only find that as a full exhaust setup (turbo back) and not a cat-back only...but this is definately worth it honestly

youd have to have an exhaust shop install it though, replacing the s-pipe (it bolts up to the turbo) is no simple feat at all, its rated as one of the hardest mods on this car, next to the intake manifold

so to get a decent vibrant exhaust system, sipped, and installed by professionals..how much would that cost me approx.?

vibrant is good, there is a for sale section on this forum check around every few days, how much are you willing to spend? you can also... buy one of those fart cans on ebay and have a shop to make a custom exhaust for you, might cost cheaper than retail catbacks, im not too sure... and to install the exhaust at a shop, it all depends on their hourly labor rate, might cost like 100 or 200 or something for catbacks... but turbobacks it'd cost more to install cuz of the downpipe, also to keep in mind its highly recommanded to replace crappy stock motor mounts if you have an aftermarket downpipe.. theres so much to do man definitely cost time and money... and to know the laws in wa, check the locals section here and post a thread and ask if thats legal or not, or you can google around

yea but most shops will charge about 100 - 150 bucks to make a new catback anyways, and it will still sound like s*** lol

ok thanks guys. so whats the best full exhaust system for my 03' mazdaspeed protege that isnt to expensive but is still nice??
