    better handling ms3 or msp

Hm couldn't find the msp on this page, but I think we could all agree the miata would be classed as a better handling car than both the ms3 and msp rigth? Thus. http://www.fastestlaps.com/index.php?page_id=compare&car1=45c81efb18f1d&car2=458e6376b957f stock for stock, on a track the overall...

    91 v 93 Octane?

Agree totally on the Mohawk fuel ;) Been using the 92eth blend in Edmonton from day 1 and it's been great. Switched to the 94eth blend recently (as soon as it was avail at my local gas station) and immediately observed a 2mpg increase for that tank of gas. Next fill up was still 1+ mpg better...

    Winter question; radiator block?

Hmm, Im up in Canada, and subject to -35 to -40degrees Celcius. So far, I've never had an issue with the car not keeping the windows clear (highway speeds or not). However, if you add 5 ppl to the car then yes, due to the added moisture I've found pretty much all vehicles have a hard time...

Mazdaspeed 3 on best motoring Vids?

Hmm bottom line, the speed 3 started in 5th position and had to work it's way through traffic. Anyone with knowledge on the subject knows that slows you down, quite simple really. As for tossing in an evo or sti, on a road course I think you're right, all other things being equal the sti or...

Official Count: Motor mount failures MS3

you forgot to mention where yours broke, ala while on the highway, spirited run parking etc. As well, though I'd not recommend it be done (with certain ppl reading the boards), realistically modified or not should be known. Anonymous poll perhaps ?

    Fastest FWD?

Sorry to hear you've suffered from all of the above. Most people have not. No dash or stereo squeaking nor winshield issues in cold weather (and I drive it at minus 35 Celcius). I do have a rattle coming from my handbreak though, (the actual button on the end of it ) annoying yes but when I'm...

    Flat Foot Shifting

Semi Pro driver? I'm assuming you're referring to the time the cobalt set at the ring. The driver is quite familiar with racing the cobalt in SCCA competition (and winning it) as well as extremely familiar with the ring. Driver advantage goes a long ways on an 8 mile course, so I'm pretty...

    Winter - Stability Control scare

From past experience the fact that you were on the stock (summer only) tires were a major part of the issue. As a side note, I"ve driven Alberta winters for 23 years...so, snow ice, black ice rain you name it. I once took my old sentra se-r spec v out for a brief spin in regular snow (no ice...

How long do you let your Speed 3 warm up?

Even in cold climates, not really required (other than to have warm air to melt ice etc). I simply start the car, back out of the garage, wait for the door to close and am on my way. Plus 30 or minus 30 C. As you mentioned though, no beating on the car until it's fully warmed up.

    Lightning Lap 2008, ouchie

Didn't see this posted, so thought I'd toss the link out. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/features_classic_cars/the_lightning_lap_2008_feature+page-2.html The cobalt put in a lap time 3 seconds faster than our stock speed 3's. I'm wondering if anyone has the...

um, no, there's no problem with our motor mounts

Hmm the car flipped 10-11 times I'm thinking that's not a motor mount issue..more like by design. A motor mount failing under normal driving conditions is an issue, the engine falling out under collision is by intent.

    The Act

I cannot think of a single manufacturer that quotes you whp on their new cars....good luck with that.

    Autocrossing and a modified MS3...help!!

After engine startup if you press that button the dsc light does come on. It doesn't mean that traction control is disabled. It has simply pushed the threshhold back much farther so you can spin the tires and what not without having it cut in suddenly, up to a certain point. As for which to...

    MS3: Hesitation at 5200 RPMs

May not have been a recall, but there is a TSB on the hesitation at high rpm. I had my car in for this reason 6-8 months ago and it cleared right up. Part of the 'fix' was a reflash on the ecu.

    (attn) clutch issues.

How could it 'miss'? What gear were you in when you 'dropped' the clutch? I'm with the other poster here, what you typed above doesn't quite make sense.

The fastest way to launch MS3?

As soon as you 'dropped' the clutch you went wrong. If I'm in a hurry (not racing of course) I have DSC off as well, and start at the same rpm you did. The difference being you need to feather the clutch out vs dumping it. This will allow you to gain some traction in first gear. Short shift...

    new cobalt ss , ms3's killer ???

That's it's listed top speed. Whether or not it got up to that speed at the ring is another story.

    new cobalt ss , ms3's killer ???

Anyone ever find out if that was a production configuration in which they beat the old ring record for that class? Meaning, production tires, weight and engine settings etc? A ring record without knowing if the car was/is at full production equivalents means very little. Also worth of note...

    Question for MS3 owners

16K kilometer and no such issues. The only thing I've noticed is that as the suspension & steering break in torque steer increases a bit. Of course, you've had months to get used to the change so it's not an issue. (and only noticed under full throttle acceleration with uneven roads).

2008 Mazdaspeed 3 - does it have the same theft problems?

Yes, but on early builds only. I was one of the first to get their Speed 3 in Canada and ended up getting mine fixed via a mazda 'goodwill' gesture. Later builds had already been corrected on the production line. If you need to find out if your car is one of those affected, simply call mazda...
