2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

@ColoradoDriver I'm in a similar position as you regarding suspension. My struts are starting to feel worn - I'll look into getting them done once I gather some money for that. Otherwise, just a crack in the passenger side LCA bushing, but everything else is good.

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

I don't blame you. Just had the front LCAs and tie-rod ends done at a local shop for my CX-5. (Basic Beck/Arnley units.) Took nearly 5hrs, and there was a lot of hammering (for the ball joints) and wedging (to get those LCA bolts aligned for insertion). Chatted with the mechanic as the job...

High Mileage CX-5s - report in

Approaching 136k miles and getting ready to replace front suspension components: struts, lower control arms, sway bar end links. Current links are a bit twisted, bushing on the LCA's are torn. Rear suspension is fine. Replaced MAF sensor earlier this year to resolve a running rich CEL code.

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

Ordered parts, including new bolts and nuts for all the LCA connections since those were rusted badly. Will let you know how that goes but will probably be a couple weeks before I can do the work, and not expecting the parts until next week sometime.

Preventative Maintenance List for 10 year old / 150k mile CX-5

Any abnormal tire wear or alignment issues after installing the Gen 2 LCA on your Gen 1?

Preventative Maintenance List for 10 year old / 150k mile CX-5

Are you saying you used a LCA from 2017 CX-5 and newer (Gen-2 CX-5)? Based on the TSBs Mazda had upgraded the rubber bushing on the LCA even for Gen-1 CX-5. That’s why I got a passenger-side OEM LCA (exact part number based on my VIN) for replacement. Do try to use 5W-30 SP oil on your...

DIY Ball joint (Only) Replacement - 2016 CX-5

...me, this comes down to two things.....alignment and access. I'm sure the labor time doing it either way is probably the same. If I found the LCA bushings were cracked or torn, LCA replacement is the only way to go. In fact, I'm a big believer in doing both if you find one is bad. In my...

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

Wow, I just had a similar accident several weeks ago on my 2016 CX-5 GT AWD hitting the curb hard and bent the passenger side LCA at the ball joint area and damaged the ball joint too. Luckily the CV axle seemed fine. I got an OEM right side LCA and had the Brakes Plus to do the replacement...

Preventative Maintenance List for 10 year old / 150k mile CX-5

Yes, I am buying aftermarket parts, and it seems the aftermarket didn't pick up on the TSB/redesign for the 13-16 cars I haven't noticed any valvetrain noises, but have heard good things about the mazda oil, I plan on trying it in the future, in both the 3 and CX5!

    Show me your CX-5 wheels

It might be worth creating a separate thread for aftermarket LCA discussion and pictures. If someone decides to create a thread, I can move the relevant posts over for you guys (y)

Water collecting in control arm bolt hole (2015 CX-5)

No, it definitely isn’t normal. When Brakes Plus changed the damaged right LCA not long ago, I didn’t see any water coming out from any vertical bolts. You can open the wheel well liners and you should see lots of leaves and acorns which clogged the drain behind it.

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

I am approaching 136k miles and the car is 11 1/2 years old. Figured didn't hurt.

    Mazda OEM Parts OES Supplier?

...(they press in) or the control arm which comes with LBJ and new bushings. Can't imagine you would leave the old bushings in. Anyway, if doing the LCA, have you seen the threads detailing members experiences or should I say ordeals. You would be wise to do so unless you've done them before or...

    2014 CX-5 100k service

Apparently you didn’t deal with the LCAs on CX-5 recently. Go to the link I posted above and read. The OEM LCA for a 2014 CX-5 selling for $165.15 each just 1.5 years ago now it’s $248.35. Yes you can pay $100 each for some cheap aftermarket LCAs, but do you really want to risk $250 labor...

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

...I guess it's a good thing it's in there. You really don't know if the angles are right until after thousands of miles of driving when you start to see wear on the sides of the tire if you aren't supplied with a printed readout. I wonder if they've seen problems with LCA replacements after the...

Wow thanks for the great pics .. seeing it up off the ground like that is really helpful... Im trying to work my way through the issues the impact caused ... 2014 CX-5 100k service

Thanks all for your inputs. In particular, appreciate yrwei52 and Snorting2.5 for their thoughts on LCA. Repair quote is from a local repair shop and LCA (right and left) is the most expensive item on the list. I will get a second quote from other shop and see if it is any better Any...

Control Arm Shears off on a 2023 CX-50 with 2k miles

...the update. I also consider the ball joint on the front lower control arm is pretty weak based on recent experience from my 2016 CX-5. The LCA was bent at the ball joint location and the ball joint was damaged due to a hard hit to the curb several months ago and the entire LCA had to be...

    2014 CX-5 100k service

Not a Cx-5, but my 2015 6, which has essentially the same components, is on its second LCA, which already has some play in it. (Again.) . I'm at close to 193,000 miles. So I agree it's excessive and a problem area. My bushings look much worse than what you see in that photo. The vehicle...

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

I just ordered an OEM rear brake hose for my Scion XB online. Came to $67!! Hose, gasket, and banjo bolt. Crazy. Thing is about a foot long. Must be lined with gold. The dealer wanted $66 just for the hose alone. Gasket and bolt came to about $8 each online.
