130mphs

yah.. but thats about as far as they'll go... maybe 135....

i usually hit 120-130 the whole way from LA to santa barbara... middle of the night... 101 freeway... completely repaved sections, 7 lanes wide... all equals fun

no... straight aways 120 is easy... 130ish you do need a slight hill to gain speed.. but your seriously not goin over 130ish in a stock p5/mp3

I can hit 120 on the freeway no problem... thats part of the reason ppl loose races on the freeway.. cuz i hit 120 like its no problem and can keep 120 even through light (VERY LIGHT) traffic...

thats part of the reason I dont get it when they show police chases and theyre like "Oh My God! this pursuit is exceeding 80 mph!!!"

i was on A FLAT STRAIGHT 4 lane RD (2 going 2 coming) ... when i hit 130... i think it could've went ALITTLE MORE... like 136

How accurate is the stock speedometer? I think anything over 130 is impressive for a stock p5.

Just keep an eye out for those HP and copters.

ok

I,ve gotten my my P5 up to (133)with intake and no muffler screwing around one night on I75,shhhh dont tell anyone. its loud with no muffler. Had to put it back on, hehe.

CONGRATS!!!!

so how does it feel to whip past traffic???

i love it. i routinely cruise down the highway at night, of course watching for HP and traffic.

i have been to 130 on intake and exhaust, fun stuff but i dont hold it there, i slow to 120 then just keep my foot on gas! hopefully when i get turbo next year i'll be able to do it quicker!

When all I had done to my car was an intake I hit 135-140 going to Cali, and then did it again on the way back. I'm too scared to do it again though. If there was a cop there my car would be taken away from me and I'd be in jail with bubba.

Now that I have a turbo... I'm sure my top end has gone up quite a bit. But I don't think I'll ever test it. I also have the P5 ECU in now, so who knows I may even be limited to like 110-120.

That's about where people expect most of us intercooled turbo guys to be. Adding 80-100 HP will add at LEAST 20-25 more on the top end.

Once we get our microtech systems on... hehehe... there'll be no limit.

Hey smp3000, are you sure it was 140? Cause I got up to some where between 135 and 140 and I hit what felt like a speed governor! The engine shut down until the speed goes back under 135. Just wondering if this is only my car or what! When I say shut down, it was still on but would not accelerate.

Hahahhahha.
Spoolin has a fast car, but it can't hit 160. no way in hell.

smp: what's the microtech system gonna do? Engine management?

All: I sincerely doubt any protege with stock gear ratios will break 145.

How accurate is the stock speedometer?

Well i would figure a P5's will be the same , but im my ES on my last trip I had my cruise set to 82 got pulled over and the cop said I was doing 82. I was suprised actually that it was that acurate and I have reached 132 in my ES and then let off. That is stock. I aslo noticed that once more miles were on the car it was easier to reach that speed.

Yes: standalone fuel system and engine management.

I agree with you guys... With the stock gear ratio's - not gunna happen... The 160 was in theory.
