p5 minidisc / tape deck slot below the cd player...

does anyone know the exact size of this little pocket? is it a weird shape or anything?

i haven't pulled the cover off of mine yet, because i don't want to damage it. but i'm curious as to what, if anything, would fit in that little spot, and not look retarded.

n/a car, so i wouldn't be in need of a small boost controller or turbo timer. what would be good in there? anything?

I dunno what would fit there but that piece comes off really easily. I am thinking of getting Sirus or XM radio so I'm gonna see if I can rig anything in there. The only thing that looks like that could possibily fit is the XM Commander Radio. If I get a hold of one and try it, I'll post pics. Other than that, I can't think of anything else fitting there.

The "pocket" inside of the deck is 1-5/8"x 5-1/4" wide x 5-1/8" deep. the panel is the exact size it looks and 3/4" deep, but just pull it out won't hurt anything...

It's just a cover, you have remove that using a credit card or something similar, slide it underneath and lift out. It's not screwed to anything just a cover.

if we could have a plastic insert then it'd make a nice pocket

You might be able to find a small 3-band EQ to fit in there. I know a couple of companys used to make 1/2 din 1/2 width units.

I was going to put my David Navone Line Out Converter in there.
