did you just take it off and paint it and bolt it back on?

how did you clean all the oil off of it?

Yeah..first unbolted it..than got some soap & water..and cleaned it..then power washed it..than lastly sanded it down a little..than let dry...and paint 2 coats..and bolt right back in!

I really like the chrome.....is that paint or did you buy something else. Same question with the Exhaust manifold shield.

I painted mine with High temp paint. There's a how-to on painting valve cover and heat shield in the how-to section if you are looking to paint it.

I've seen the how-to sections and I think it would be pretty easy. Can you paint it chrome? It sure doesn't look painted it looks like something out an order magazine.

I don't think chroming is something you do on your own, you'd have to take it off and give it to a shop that does that kind of stuff. I guess you could try to find the shiniest silver paint out there and try that.

Hmmmm.....i don't think its worth it to me. I'd just a soon paint it than send it to a shop and wait.

rubbing compound, a dremel, and a whole lot of time can get you chromed.

i did the letters and it took half an hour.

if your car is older, than yes I hear you should replace the gasket. On our 3.5 cars, I don't think it's a problem to re-use the orig.

Wow! That's the nicest valve cover I've seen on a P5 yet! (shocked) That must have cost a fortune.

I think I'll just paint mine with high temp yellow to match my car.
