Has anyone retrofitted a power hatch into a CX-5?

:
2010 Mazda 5 Sport
My mom has a CX-5 and the lift gate is just heavy enough that it is bothering her aging hands. The Mazda 5 she used to have was fine as it's rear hatch was lighter/better balanced and we never figured the hatch in this CX-5 would be an issue.

I see a hew retrofit kits on Amazon, etc but none have ratings.

We don't care about a key fob or inside cabin button, just that when she pushes the button on the hatch it opens unassisted.

I wonder if the Mazda5 hatch was lighter or better balanced or did the hydraulic assist cylinders work better on that vehicle?
Those things wear out and then they don't have as much lift. Replacing the cylinders should be less expensive than a motorized hatch, so it might be something to consider.

Do you have a link to that kit?
unfortunately no. i bought it back in april and looks like it's no longer available

The Mazda 5 has a plastic hatch. Very light. That car is literally the most versatile thing ever. Too bad people hated it so much that they stopped selling it.
