SMIC delete brackets anyone?

Hi guys, as you may know, you need two fans on the MSP stock rad, or you risk overheating(especially if you use AC). However, if you have an FMIC and the stock rad, you have to leave the SMIC in in order to hold the fan and support the radiator. I think this is inelegant, so I'm making some brackets to delete the SMIC while still holding the rad and driver side fan. Since I'm doing it up in CAD and having the parts waterjet cut for myself, it occurred to me that I could get a couple made if others wanted the same thing.

I know some of you are all like "just get slim fans", but slim fans don't come with a shroud, and from reading other's experiences here, it seems like the shroud makes a big difference in cooling effectiveness.

anyways, I don't have merchant status so I'm not going to talk prices or anything, I just want to see if anyone else would be interested.

I'm also open to suggestions on whether or not a blockoff plate or a bracket to support an oil cooler would be a good idea.

heh not much interest I guess. anyways here are the parts back from the waterjet cutters. its too bad nobody else has any use for them, since they are all done in CAD, it would be easy for me to make a lot more now that i have the hole placement perfect. it wasn't necessary to remove the rad to install them, its just that i discovered my rad cap has fallen apart and i had to shake the rad upside down to get the parts out.

You'll find that the fan is substantially less effective with the SMIC missing, as it is far easier for the air to flow through nothing, than the radiator. You really want to make a block-off plate that forces air traveling through the fan to also travel through the radiator.

Had a job change which slowed me down for a bit but still working on this. Got the top one anodized black:

i would buy one, my SMIC is still chillin there serving no purpose with a big ass turbolife FMIC in front of it...

cool man. Ill let everyone know when the design is ready to do a group buy and when I've got AM status.

in the mean time, here is the rad blockoff plate im working on. it still needs more work.

finally got around to making the prototype. a few changes were required, but here we go. I will have this one made again with the changes implemented, and anodize it.
