Hello,

I was wondering if people managed to replace the tweeters over by the mirror..

I have 1" tweeters, and I DO NOT want to drill holes to place my new tweeters..

I have The Phoenix Gold Tantrum 5.0.

Did you take the tweeter out completely out of it's casing to put it in place?

I will be asking a lot of q's (possibly!) until my new speakers are installed..

Thanx..

i haev my tweeters on a plate along with my woofer

you'll get the best performance w/ tweets if they are at ear level, but in the door is a pretty clean install. As for putting in the new ones PeaB0dy, I would have to see what's going on to know....I haven't had the need to do it myself.

Well, this is what I have..

Please excuse the pic size, in a rush out the door...

ive heard that its way better to have the tweeter as close to the woofer as possible, if you putit away from the woofer the phase may be off between the 2 distorting the sound

Why not try a junkyard or the dealer and get the blank plates for the sail panels and install your tweeters in them?

i ripped out the old cut the wires attached the new wire and electrical taped it in there. stuck back in place and WHA LA i have a 150 watt tweets in with no problem.

Not exactly.

They will be the most audible there but the imaging will be very off. The closer to the mid the better. Honestly, most people never know what image is or how to listen for it so its ignored by the general public.

Speaks don't have watts.

Speakers can handle watts. A speakers power handling ability is pointless without an amp to supply that power.
I don't know of a single car audio tweeter that is 150 watt rms capable or that you would want to have that much power.

ill take a pic of the box an post it. sorry for miss typing what i meant was a tweet that could handle 150 watts

I mounted my infinity reference tweets in the door a few inches above the midbass and it looks totally aweosme. its silver and black like the factory interior colors. I cut the holes with a dremel

THere isn't many, if any tweeters that will handle 150 rms. Even peak thats a bit high.

Are you familiar with the differences between rms and peak power ratings?

I am not trying to be a dick in any way, I just like expanding peoples audio knowledge.

From what I understand RMS is supposed to be .707 times the voltage, which with most cars it's 12 volts, so the RMS voltage is 8.485, multiply that by the amperage of the speaker, and you have watts RMS..

I can't take the tweeters out from the casing, they are glued in..

they also wont fit in there from what it looks like..

PArtly, although speakers don't have amperage. YOu could use resistance of the speakers to figure it out that way but the speakers impedance changes as it plays so it isn't so simple.

Basicly, rms wattage is the power an amp can provide and a speaker can withstand continuously. Peak power is what an amp can create or a speaker can handle in a VERY short amount of time.

Generaly peak power is ignored as a useless stat as it is completely useless. Pay attention to RMS only.

$5 for the first person that can correctly state what RMS stands for :D
