Hey guys, I upgraded to the SU TMIC on my MS6. After installing, i noticed that there seems to be a kink in the rear hose (pain in the ass to install btw).
1.) Is this as good as it gets?
2.) Can it be fixed, or do I need to buy a new hose?

Thanks as always!

Well since you have a lot on the turbo, you can pull a little off from that, center it a little and see if that will work. If not I guess you may be buying a new hose. That's not exactly bolt on, I would expect better quality and fitment from SU. Just give it a go and see what happens.

is it a used tmic? SU fixed that problem early this year...the only thing i could say is if you brought it new...and since your car is the 2006 mazdaspeed 6...that they gave you the 2007 ms6 intercooler ...the rear hoses are different from the 2006 and the 2007...as you can see on su's website they sell after market hoses...ones for the 06 and different ones for the 07

hope that helps

Unfortunately this is a known issue with the SU tmic along with the brackets snapping off, a lot of people people complained of this same bad fitment.

I believe that the difference in the hoses between the 06 and 07 is actually the cold side (front) hose and not the rear like the other guy stated.
I could be wrong tho???

I bought the intercooler used, and the seller told me it can be a pain on the rear hose. From what I could understand, SU sells hoses as well, but they are identical to stock ones. Maybe I should order a longer hose online?
Anyone have ideas on a fix?

I actually just bought a used one off another forum which should arrive any day now so I'll be in the same boat as you.
I already have the su upgraded boost tubes so I'll let you know if they work any better.

after thinking about it your right..the difference is the front pipe when it comes to the intercoolers...the thing is i have had way too much experience dealing with s u ..in fact i dealt with them for over 9 months trying to get their intercooler fixed...ever since march of 2010 they have fixed all new intercoolers. when i had their older intercooler i tried everything...buying a different hose...cutting it....you name it i tried it...the best hose to use was the stock hose in the end when dealing with the older intercooler...when you upgrade to the s u hose you will notice its a thicker hose and in return will not be easy to bend which will really kink the hell out of the hose and seal off a lot of air flow

here is an older link i started...you will notice the amount of people complaining about the intercooler...from back in 09 and finally in march of this year on page 4 you will see the intercooler i got from s u with no kink with there hoses

regarding the brackets breaking...they fixed that issue also ...they have thicker reinforced tabs...in the end after 9 months and a total of 3 intercoolers later i finally got one that fits and works...i have had it 8 months and its great.

thanks for the info man. How was the fitment for you using the stock intercooler hose in the back? Were you able to completely remove the kink? I think I might be able to de-kink mine a little...I hope

using the stock hose it had a small kink in it...nothing like the after market hose...no matter how i shortened the hose or adjusted it...it would always kink... its due to the angle that the metal hot pipe was welded onto the intercooler

here is a picture of the kink while using the aftermarket hose in the rear - http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz186/smokeys36shop/th_0419091436.jpg?t=1288802154

here is a picture of the old tmic using the stock black rear hose and the blue su front hose http://s826.photobucket.com/albums/zz186/smokeys36shop/?action=view&current=blueandblack.jpg

last is the picture of the new improved tmic with the improved brackets and better rear pipe http://s826.photobucket.com/albums/zz186/smokeys36shop/?action=view&current=reinforcedtabs.jpg

and well here it is on the car after many months of waiting http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz186/smokeys36shop/car/th_2010-03-06165128.jpg?t=1288810859

in the end this was an issue that was resolved back in march of this year...all new tmic will have this issue fixed.....
