Dino upload some current pics man...I mean it's not a protege but I know you have it lookin hot by now!
I meant build one which im doing right now. One of my best friends has owned one (240sx) for 5 years with a rb20det.
Maybe times have changed, but last time I looked into supras and skylines, buying the actual car cost a ton of money, and the GOOD aftermarket parts weren't cheap either. You are right you don't have a brand new car or a warranty but you can get a basically new rb25 engine (from reputable company) for under 5K and have it professionally installed and replace ALL the stock compnents for under 15 grand. Thats using only the best quality parts / services as well as a basic bolt on kit that usually comes with the "clips." That stock engine has 250hp and can handle over 650 on stock internals. With 4-5 grand extra in mods you can build a very fast car.
The risk of buying an abused 15 year old turbo supra is even higher.I would rather take that risk than buy a used EVO / STI any day.
Buying any used performance car is. The older that car is, the greater the chances of abuse. I'd rather buy a 2 year old performance car than a 15 year old one.I can only imagine what owners do to evo's before they sell. Thats a very risky move.
They're not cheap cars, but they're a bargain compared to a supra. As for cost to mod, they're really not bad. Most of the mods only cost a little bit more than what you'd pay for mods on an MSP. Most springs are under $250, clutches are around $500, flywheels are around $300, tunes are around $500, turbos are $1200. Nothing outrageous, unless you're buying crazy JDM parts or something.Evo's are nice. I wanted one and im not bashing them. But they are expensive to buy and expensive to mod as well.
Actually, far worse. Not to mention they throw your warranty out the door just as fast as mazda.

In my experience, Mazda was pretty cool to me about warranty work. Mitsu OTOH, has a rep for denying claims on Evos.
Definitely a CYA type thing and I guess you really can't blame them for the most part. I'm sick of reading arguments about why people think that such and such part shouldn't have voided a warranty. Well... you modified standard equipment. Sure, it may be a better part in the long run, but if you install it wrong and blow it up, it sure as hell isn't Mazda's / Mitsu's fault.
That's not good. Isn't it true that the Access Port is sold through some stealerships?
240's are notorious swap cars. They are all over the place. . . Im sure you have seen one. Because you can buy them cheap and they are RWD. Not to mention they share similar components with skylines so the swaps are "easy" relatively speaking. You can replace all the stock OEM parts like water pumps, pulley's , etc for cheap. Then buy a tranny / rb25 skyline motor and you are set. The motors themselves are all over the place. Tons of companies specialize in just 240sx swaps and sell clips with everything you need from mounts to turbo kits in one package.
You can have your car built by a reputable company using only the best products you can find for under 20K. Thats a modded one too. Capable of 600hp on stock internals. Or you can do it yourself for even cheaper.
Anyway your evo looks sick. Looks much better than the older 8/9's imo.

but thats a 240. not a skyline. its like a drag queen. or maybe more like a tranny. i actually saw 3 skylines today. 2 old, one new. but i live in a place where they're way more common than 240s.
Not really. The 240's aren't bad handling cars. You can make it anything you want really. You can go for power or you can go suspension and make it competitive on the track. They are popular drift cars because they are balanced pretty well depending on which engine you drop in there.
OBP was my second choice - nice color. Just make sure you run some dark accents on it to make it look mean.
You looking to buy new or used? 2008 or 2010? GSR or MR?
