for the actual gauges you need 2 194 bulbs and 2 74 bulbs, and if you are doing another color it wont show through unless you sand down the back of the gauges

Is it possible to get at the back of the gauges for sanding without trying to pop the needles off? I replaced my bulbs with some really bright (6 watt) LED's and it's pretty dim even at the brightest setting. I don't want to break my needles though. I'm kinda perplexed that piddly bulbs light up the dash better than my $50 LED's somehow.
