Well with about 15k on the odometer now the re050's are officially slicks, even with habitual rotations and pressure checks, the treadwear of 140 is just too soft. So after much reccomendation from jaxjeff and following my own advice i bought some new rubber on friday, Nitto NeoGens 225/40ZR18's. After the weekend and a lil breakin, LOVE EM. These things stick as good iff not better than the b-stones, and wet traction is awesome, Fay is on her way her and the rain is already here so i can atest. That is also why my car is so dirty, not gunna clean it right b4 a hurricane. Oh sidenote, i just put on the knock off type -s its also working well and holding boost to 6500. Then finally heres the reason i bought new tires, My son, crazy driver burned the others right up, j/k his name is Jaiden he's 6 months.

I burned mine off with just shy of 16K on them and you are right, the B-stones, are not worth the $$$. I thought about the Nittos, but actually went with the Kumho Ecsta ASX. Not quite as sticky, but overall a better all season tire with much better grip in rain and much quieter as well.

I've only put around 4500 miles on my Kumho SPTs and they look like a tire should look with 25000 miles on them. They're not bald, but I can't believe how much tread is gone. No strange wear patterns....wear is completely even across the tread blocks. I may have to find a slightly harder compound on the next set.

Thank's for the feedback on the Nitto's. My factory Bridgestones RE050 summers will need to be replaced next summer (I run winter tires for half the year) and it's good to know there are some choices out there. The Bridgestones are quite expensive but I think they offer a fairly high level of performance. It's easy to find longer wearing (harder compound) tires, but I'm sure performance suffers because of it.

well i believe the nitto's are a 280 treaDwear and jaxjeffs still look like new after 9k or so (guessing) they ended up costing me right at 100$ a tire but i bought them from the shop i managed for 2 years, so they cut me a deal but at 92$ cost figure about 112 list @ 20%. Mount and balance varies but its usuall 12-20 a tire. i got away with 496 after tax and everything.

the SPTs are actually a 320 rating, but they can be had for under $100/piece

Kumho is also good rubber, i (reluctantly) put a set of the ast's on my buddies evo, but he was strapped for cash and the yoko advans he had were spitting cords like it was their job. He likes em, says they are not as stick in the corners but i explained to him that advans are basically a track ready tire while the kumhos are best bang for your buck all around tire.

I've got the Nitto NT 555 and love them. I just went to the track with them Saturday, they've got amazing grip and actually held together pretty well.

We have tracked our MSP on the the Nitto NT 01 on the track, great tire for the price, never did get greasy after after several runs, best R comp for the $$$. As far as an UHP summer tire, the SPT, wee have run for the past 2 years on our 6's, you have to rotate the tirtes to getthe maximum wearout of them, if you do not, you are losing tread life.

If you are looking for a little more expensive tire, the Yokohama S drives are a great tire with great grip in wet or dry conditions, so is the Parada Spec II's.

More info on the knock-off blow-off? GL with Fay coming. :(

Yea fay sucked, flooded everywhere here, the knock off is doing great, after about a week of driving it i tightened it up just a little and thats all i have had to do. It holds boost great actually holding all the way to 6200 rpms now witch is amazing considering it would fall off at 5500 before, if you have ever remoived the stocker you will see how sub par the construction is IMO, the sound is better more like a whoosh rather than a whistle or turkey like other bpv offer, i am running in recirc with stick snorkle, thank god cause is i would have had any cai i would be in the hydrolocked boat too. see attatched.
