Yes they do if they are straight cut to an extent (not 700whp obviously) It's the axial forces with helical cut gears. But then they do have the bearing race re-inforcement which the dude from PR didn't have. I'll be doing this with my quaife next year.

par gears dont help when you have a weak case tho....
 
how fast is going to be fast enough? at what trap speed, quarter mile time, etc is going to make you happy with the car. generally speaking, you will need 300+whp on a dyno to break into the 12s consistently. and to make 300+whp you need a built motor with forged pistons, forged rods and ideally a built transmission. those two pieces right there will cost you between $5000 to $10000 in parts and labor. not to mention the exhaust, the turbo, the manifold, the intercooler, the engine management required to get you to that level.
 
This is definately not the platform for a few $k and you have a beast that's reliable.

Big bucks...I love my car but I could be close to driving a GT-R by now!

This is exacttly what I am saying..to get what he wants will be an enourmous amount of Money.
For what you will spend modding the engine setup alone..you could have bought another car and paid for it.

I am planning on having near 300HP out of my little engine...But I didn't go with a TUrbo nearly that big nor Nitrous...Anything that takes nitrous to spool would be worthless on the street unless its a straight race car.

BTW...I would estimate I have upwards of getting near $10K in my Engine Build/Turbo Setup alone.
No other parts...just the Drivetrain.

I think he is still wanting to DD this car...so I don't think he is wanting a Straight line Drag performer.

And not upgrading the oil system..OK..But I bet these guys tear their engine down quite a bit as well for maintenance and repairs.

Sounds like to me what He wants is modded LS6 power out of an Iron 2.0L block.

Not gonna Happen....For any reasonble or Sane amount of Green.
 
s*** i think if me and you pushed it we could make ls6 power you might need a turbo upgrade tho haha. ill meet you on the highway at 40mph im still not comfortable with launching this car even with the built transmission going in im not going to launch it. i never launched it when i had 200 and im not going to launch it when i have 300+
 
It would be nice for a couple of higly modded pros to meet up for some good drag action....Video would be a must.

well I have everything for a 30 to bolt up to my car. except for a manifold and the hiboost mani has been ordered just waiting on it. I was just going to put a 3psi spring in a wastegate and call it a day but now I am thinking I should just go ahead and do everything right. I know the cost of everything I am not stupid. I can do pretty much everything my damn self. and this is not a short term project I expect to be in a week. I just want to build this to for my own satifaction. the car is not a daily and hasnt been for a long long time. I just want to get his out of the way so I can get it done have something that I am proud of. and for everyone saying this is not the car do this with I dont care.
 
i would go with K1 rods wiesco pistons, balance your crank, get a awesome head job (LOL), apr studs, a upgraded oil pump from tri-point, the awr deep sump oil pan. fmic or smic, 2.5-3 inch exhuast, boost gauge, aem wideband, motor mounts and i would start saving for some par gears and a welded LSD and last but not least a awesome ecu and a tune to match it!!!!

I will look into the oil pump, I didnt know there was one out there. I have a microtech lt10s, perrin fmic, wide band, f+r motor mounts, 3" back exhaust, boost gauge, cams. I am pretty much set with the bolts on's. I have done everything except for the internals. heres some pics of how it has been sitting for nearly four months waiting on some kind of manifold to get here. I originally bought one from brach but that ended up bad got my money back and now I am waiting for a hiboost mani which I didnt think I would have to wait for

I still think the turbo is Overkill....But if you already have it...So be it.

Anything over about 300HP and you are just making yourself a money pit you will never climb out of.

Trannies reaking...Parts breaking...Tons of money into parts to buid the engine...But hey..I am all for it!

tahts exactly why some of us still have our stock lsds. 2nd gear rolls for me

....and doing what your planning is only going to put that into high gear.
 
My bosses 08 Z06 with 250lb pass had me by 2 cars with 420lbs in passengers 60-120 at 17psi! 19psi and my cutout should be a different story. From a standstill...completely different story!
