what do I need for a good strong motor

Bad as in bad or bad as in good?

My boss took me for a ride and it just took off like a rocket without the slightest squeel with it's like 20" wide tires but once your rolling I was "SHOCKED" he didn't leave me in the dust from 60!

i dont get that comment either lowpsi? u dont have to be a gearhead to mod ur car! u just have to pay people like u lots of money to do it?

My point is, he's obviously not able to complete the project on his own so he needs to go talk to the people who he'll be buying parts from and having do the work. Talking about turbos, nitrous, 300psi etc etc, its obvious he hasn't sat down and figured out a plan. If you start a project without a plan, you'll be lucky to finish it.

You don't have to pay someone like me to do it, but I don't mind the money.

umm I have done all the work on my car buddy except for when I installed my ems. I kept crossing wires and I had to take that into get fixed because I just got tired of ******* with it. I do have a plan I just wanted to know how to fix the oil problem for the most part. and if you were to look at the pics I posted you might figure out that I have a turbo and either have the parts to bolt it up or I am waiting for them to get here. I dont think I mentioned 300 psi I think it was 26 or so psi which would be where I would get the most out of MY turbo. sorry you dont havnt any usefull information to post in my thread because your car is bought not built. GTFO.

oh and I think I have done a pretty damn good job with my car so far as it at 240 hp at 15psi on my stock block making countless dig runs with out breaking a damn thing.

Actually I think Lowpsi did everything on his car himself and is very capable! I do believe that was either a typo supposed to be 300whp or 30psi.

I'm just over 300whp and have done all labor myself with exception of the motor. Including building the tranny and spent close to $25k for mods over 5years of $5k income tax returns for being a single dad. I have no life except raising my kids and playing with my car!

Correct. Try another angle.

I typed 300psi, on purpose. I realize YOU typed 26psi. Its just an arbitrary number. Why not 25 or 27psi?

I saw your pics. Glad you have some parts.

You want some useful info:

Don't use nitrous. The turbo doesn't need it, its not big. Instead, invest that money in porting your head. Port match the intake manifold and intake ports and leave the exhaust side a bit smaller than the exhaust manifold ports. If you have a stock intake manifold, remove the VTCS and VICS butterflies. Make the engine efficient so you don't have to cram tons of boost into it to make power. Polish the crankshaft and have the rotating assembly balanced.

Buy a AWR oilpan if you plan on autoXing or doing track days. Otherwise a stock oil system is fine.

Start saving for a PAR gearset. Don't waste money on GTX gears.

Now that is useful information.
I also bit off more than I researched, having bought a replacement Turbo GT3071 with a T28 turbine (direct bolt on). Planned to run 16 psi with an AEM standalone. This should be good for 300 - 320whp, however only now realising (1 week ago) that 3rd gear will tend to shear. Yes I am in the process of ordering the upgraded rods and pistons, and a Toga high volume oil pump. This car is my daily driver. Where do you order the par gear set from and what is the cost. Will getting the replacement 3rd gear alone last at 300whp, if i don't exceed this power level.
Love my MSP2003.5

The 3071 will bolt to the manifold and downpipe fine but you will have to modify/replace your oil feed and water lines. The lines interfere with the compressor housing and while you can bend them and get by with the OEM lines, they will be sitting against the housing and eventually fail due to fatigue from vibration. Contact Sam at Crossover Auto (screen name JDM Sam) to purchase the lines. The OEM oil drain works fine.

The transmission issues aren't due to gear strength, but to lubrication and case flex. While you have the transmission open, you should replace atleast the 3rd and 4th gear assemblies IMO. Take the time to do it right, even if that means keeping the boost down until you can compile all the replacement parts. Dana at SpeedCircuit carries PAR products or you can order them direct from PAR Australia.

That bearing race brace that PAR makes is on my list with the quaife and pinion shaft &crown wheel upgrade. Along with something similar to a 3071.

You know what man, I'm right there with you. I want to have enough power that I can shake my head at anyone and not have to prove what my car can do. That is why I'm still building the stock motor without forged internals. I want to see just how far I can take it. I want to blueprint what can and can't be done with these cars, and help the next guy do a build up with someone who has knowledge on these cars.

I'm not saying that I'm the God of MSP, I just want to take the road less traveled.

I got your back mazdaspeedwerx. lol

blaineog- http://www.*************.com/mazdaspeed3.htm for the oil feed line. bottom of the page.
