I recently bought a full mintblue body kit, almost brand new, from one of the members on this forum. Its been one of my dreams to have this on my car for years now.

I did a search for how-to type threads dealing with 03.5 protege5s and mintblue body kits, but no luck in terms of the information on the following problem.

The 03.5 P5s have side markers on the front bumper, which when removed, reveal 3 square voids/holes. After a quasi-mock fit, it seems that the front lip only covers half of the hole. But, if I wasnt holding the front lip/bumper high enough, then I wouldnt have to deal with the holes.

So, the question is, people that own a 2003.5 P5 with a mintblue body kit, what did you do to fill in the holes and make it look nice?

thanks!

use some tape behind the bumper but not tight so it can build up the resin or epoxy behind and then you should know how to do the bodywork. Or buy the Fiberglass kit from Wal-Mart or wherever they sell it. Use it to lay behind the bumper and add to sheets to make it strong the add fiberglass bondo on the other side after it dries and touch up later with bondo. Hope this help a little. Plan on putting on my MB kit pretty soon too!

lol. i appreciate the offer to buy it. i have been waiting over 4 years to get this kit and install it... i dont think ill be getting rid of it any time soon.

wouldnt shipping to hawaii be pretty damn expensive too?

if anything just let a body shop do the work. unless your trying to save some money.

im not too worried about the money, or what its going to cost... Im more inclined to simply learn about whats going on, what needs to be done, and what/why the body shop is doing whatever they are doing to get the kit installed.

just trying to increase my general knowledge of cars...

any pics of your install
here are pics of my install

you should have some hoes in were the fog lights go you can put some poprivets or use some bolts those will keep the front up and on the back the bolt hose should match to your front bumper so when you are don it should look like this

thanks for the pics SmurfedPro5. Do you have any pictures of having the 3 small holes on the side of the OEM bumper patched up? thats more of what my main concern is.

i also was told from the guy i bought the kit from that if the front lip is put on while the fogs are off, the fogs wont fit back into their original place. is that true?

I think what he was saying is that he didn't fill the holes, the mintblue kit covered them when properly installed.

i never patched it up i just made the kit cover it up and also if you leave the fogs on the kit wont fit so you have to take the fogs off

I have the same kit. You need to keep the fog lights in or the won't go back in and you'll scrape up your kit bad. I used fiberglass mat to cover the holes before installing the front bumper.

i thinks your right about the fogs becouse i never instaled my oem fogs becouse the were craked so i inded up ordering some piaas and they fit good

thanks for all the input! so basically, smurfedpro5, you were able to get away with not having to deal with the small holes because you have after market fogs which allowed you to mount the lip about half an inch higher than normal? and, Empire, by installing it the way youre "supposed to" with the oem fogs, you have to fill in the holes. Where did you buy the fiberglass mat material?

did both of you guys do all the work yourselves or take it to a shop? how much did it cost you guys to get it painted and installed? im hoping to get away with having to spend no more than $400 on the paint and install.

If your not painting it..Good luck with that.
And If your not sure how to do FG work..Please read up on some of it first.
It's not hard..but I hate to see someone do something twice.

I installed the kit myself and paid for all the materials even the paint. It cost me $800 to get a shop I always use here in Cleveland. For you it might be alot more. I covered the fog lights with painters tape so it could painted at the shop.

looks a lot like my kit but i have the fake mintblue. i didnt know there were that many (3) of use with the same kit and car color.
