So........what will mate up to that ATP 3" inlet pipe kit?

So..........I was thinking of getting the ATP MAF housing along with the 3" inlet pipe kit I juts ordered but read that some of the MAF housings throw a CEL. Why I have no idea I didn't read enough. So what will bolt up to that silicone coupler at the end of the ATP pipe? A BEGI box? A COBB and then sell the blue inlet pipe it comes with?
Opinions?

And quick Q.........if I did get he Cobb SRi......how much could I sell the blue inlet tube and blue filter for?

You should be able to mate any intake to it. At the worst you might need to get a universal silicone adapter to mate it.

the 3" MAF housing is a no go. If you get the inlet kit (which i think is an awesome piece of equipment) i would go with Cobb's SRI. It has teh correct size MAF housing and will mate up perfectly with the inlet kit.

it wont mate up for crap! the bracket will have to be drilled to fit the atp inlet kit is 3" vs the stock 2 or 2.5" the cobb intake fits inside the atp inlet kit. Now maybe if you get that elbow they show you might be able to make it work but anything will be custom.

The ATP kit fits the stock intake MAF housing. So it will probably fit right on the Cobb MAF housing I am thinking. If not then I will just sell the dang Cobb off & figure some thing out. If it does fit I can Fab my own MAF housing braket or modify the Cobb braket. No biggie..........I work in a machine shop.

subscribing..
this mod is going to produce big gains imo.. I just wish someone would buy, install, and post pics already

I doubt the coupler that comes with the ATP kti will fit over the COBB, but who knows!

the inlet that the intake tubing attaches to is reduced to mate up with a stock sized intake-inlet tube. The section that you attach your intake to is end facing down in the above pic. The black elbow on the far left would be replaced by the silicone tube that comes with the Cobb kit.

The blue Cobb intake tube doesn't fit on the ATP tube. Your going to have to use the black tube in the ATP kit or some thing else.

has someone actually tried this? I don't understand why it wouldn't fit.

The ATP unit reduces where the intake attaches so that the stock airbox will work, so why wouldn't the Cobb, which also fits the stock inlet, fit?

you can clearly see in that pic that the ATP inlet pipe is a 3" diameter that TAPERS to 2.5 (or whatever stock is) where the intake elbow plumbs in.

Its not a full 3" pipe.

i have it and it does not taper down enough, the cobb intake fits inside it. now if you get the black elbow you might be able to get it to work with the cobb but will have to route the tube that normally would go into the cobb sri into the top of the inlet pipe. you will also have to modify the bracket i had to bend it and drill a hole to even get 1 bolt in it. all of us that have this did not get the black elbow since we though it would work but it won't.

thats lame that they make a kit that doesn't work with stock, or stock compatible parts.

I was just about to pull the trigger on this too...

not only it doesnt work with the stock...one of the part that came with the kit doesnt fit either....my shop guy have to make something to get it to fit... they address this problem with them...and they are gonna make sure the next kit that go out with have the right part....(braindead)
took my shop guy little over 3 hrs for the fmic....and a full day for the turbo inlet....go figure....

First the FMIC fitment issue now this? I REALLY wanted the inlet kit, but if it won't fit my Cobb, oh well. I was also getting ready to order the FMIC kit, but luckily did a little research. Time to step it up. Customer satisfaction is #1 and word travels fast on the internet. Let's see a little more R&D please ATP.

I was told that the new ATP inlet pipe kits bolt right to the stock air box assemebly just like they do with the MAZDASPEED6 kits.

My 3" inlet kit will be here on Tues 2/5/08 and I am going to probably run a BEGI intake box with it. I ordered a Cobb and a BEGI and I will see which one I like better and then sell off the other. The BEGI box should be here in a week and the damn Cobb intakes are on BO again for 3-4 weeks.

customer service is fine....atp is like 2 mins away from the shop i went to... my shop guy inform them with the problem and the are making sure it wont happened to the next guy....my shop guy is really resourceful...he find a way to get my to work.....

good luck with yours.....i was gonna get the cobb sri too...but like u said BO for 3-4 weeks...=( and the only reason im getting the turbo inlet was atp's sri have to go with the turbo inlet....

screw this thing, i'm putting the battery in the trunk and making my own turbo inlet. i agree that the stock piece sucks balls, and this ATP pipe will help, but having bends where the bend radius equals the tubing diameter or close to sucks. air does not like bending like that. i'm going to put my battery in the trunk, and make a nice smooth bend, with a nice big radius.

JMB performance made a kit like this for the SRT-4, which I had on mine. WORKED GREAT! They actually didn't even have to relocate the battery, just used a smaller one and laid it on it's side. You should check it out. Made a noticable difference in spool up.
