Hello everybody I have one question I live in Norfolk, VA it gets pretty cold here during the winter time. I just wanted to know if the VCTS removal is worth the time yes i searched but i just wanted to get some advice from those of you that have done it. is it really worth my time. right now i have a SRI, OBX header and exhaust wil i see i difference and i have brachs pulleys comin in so hopefully that will help any help or comments are welcomed thanks you for being helpful

I ran into a cold day here in AR and I wish I had my VTCS back for a half-second. If you plan on driving for more than a couple of weeks in below freezing weather, I'd leave the system in. If you run into a few 30 degree days in a year, I'd do it. Keep in mind, not a very fun mod.

I live in north Idaho and it gets below freezing all the time. I port and polished my intake manifold with a VTCS removal last year before last winter and it was fine. It just takes a couple seconds longer to get started in cold winter but I would say go for it. Especially if you have a garage you can just park in there on the cold days

Mazdaspeed were these once your tail lights?

Someone got a link to what the VCTS mod is?

Man this was a month ago did you ever get a response on this? If not pm me and i will send you the info. Also we are getting together to do some mods this tomorrow so if you want to drop by we can tech talk. Oh i know that you are saying "is going to snow/rain tommorrow" well we are going to be in a garage. IF you need direction PM me and i will let you know.

Hey Sprinter119. Make sure you give yourself some time to do this, and possibly try to barrow a backup car if needed. Taking the intake manifold out, removing VTCS, filling holes with JB Weld, then port and polishing will take you some time. If you started the project friday evening, worked on it all day Saturday and Sunday you might be able to get it done. If you got some help taking the intake manifold out that would save you some time. It took me a couple weekends worth of work to finish mine right, I only had a little bit of help though. Also remember to polish well after porting for if you don't you might get some carbon buildup in the area.

Also I would recommend you follow this how to:

well i don't know about the porting and polish part but i can have your intake off and the VTCS out within 3 hours and you able to drive your car again!! I you have time to come out to the garage tomorrow i have to put a turbo on a speed6. If you are interested just send me a pm and i will provide you with the address to the garage. We are supposed to start tomorrow at about 10am!! I might have a few other installs as well.

^I recommend buying an intake and doing the mod. Install it and then sell your old one to the next guy (worked for me)!
