Rear license plate bracket

I have one of those college alumni frames that I wanted to put over my rear license plate... problem is, it doesn't fit inside the black plastic base that's already there. Nor does it fit completely over it. It looks pretty bad.

I tried to take the black thing off and screw the frame directly into the car, but the holes are farther apart on the body of the car than on the black plastic piece. I don't want to drill two new holes into my car just so I can hang my frame. However, I just graduated from USC and would really like to use it (Pride). Has anyone else had this problem or do you know of a way to fix it?;)

I had the same problem with my FSU frame. I'm proud to have gone there, but I like the cleaner look of the car without the frame hanging where it shouldn't.

FSU Football Blows!

Any college team that plays in the ACC and beats up on small teams should be ashamed. Then they finally get to larger teams in the end of their season and all their players are healthy since they only played small b**** teams, no wonder they do so well every season. Don't get pissed at me, I'm just messing with you because I'm an Auburn Fan. The SEC is the strongest and toughest conference in college football!

Yellow PR5:
You're proud to have gone to FSU? Those sunny hot days must of done something to your head. Of course I'm just kidding. Being from VT I thought that I'd give you a little s*** seeing as we apparently can't beat you guys in FB....with or w/out Vick. Maybe one day. Thanks for the heads up on the plate frames. I'm graduating in May and was thinking of getting one. Guess not now.

I was at the last FSU Notre Dame game. Catholics vs. Convicts. Sweet game, and FSU lost. :) Couldn't have had a better day.

Sorry, that was totally off topic, just a fond memory....

YES I HAVE FIGURED THIS PROBLEM OUT!!!

i put a WEAPON R frame on my P5 and i had to shave off alittle off the back of the frame. or you could just get alittle longer screws.:)

JRTEK

You're silver P5 is ugly, i don't even know why you drive it. At least now you have a weapon R license plate frame so you are in the game for sure.

this is my plate frame on the back...

Thanks for the pic, but I can't really see what you did to it. I just got longer screws and attached my frame to the bracket anyway. It still doesn't fit over the bracket (kinda hangs lower), but oh well.

Yellow baggedP5- are you seriously being mean or is that some type of joke? I hate to sound like a "mom" but I thought your comment to TekSilver was harsh. Be nice!

adragonfly - my new mommy

Teksilver is my best friend. We always mess with each other. He lives a few blocks away from me and we both have P5's. I would never come on here and just make fun of someone for no reason.

LOL... Whew! Like I said, didn't want to sound like a mommy, but I really want to keep the atmosphere in this place cool, especially for new people who don't know what we're like.

Glad you were just kidding, but can you see how it sounded really mean to those of us who didn't know you were buddies? I'm just like that with all my friends, too, which makes this kind of ironic. Now I realize what others must think of us when we're talking trash to each other. Hehe... Sorry!

So has anyone actually solved this problem? I just got my car two weeks ago and this is one of two niggling little problems that bug me. Can't we just buy a new plate hanger from an auto parts place? Or does Mazda have some weird distance between the screws that make that impossible?

Second problem is that while driving, the keys often flop against the dash and make an annoying noise! Keyhole is too close to the dash or something. Does that bug anyone else or am I a nut?

(Rhetorical question folks!!!)

I had a plain black plastic frame over my rear plate for a while, but I got fed up with how sloppy it looked - same problem with it not fitting nicely inside the factory bracket.

Maybe I'll just have to make my own - I've become a Dremel fanatic.

Any solutions would be welcome, though.

Oh, and the keys thing - I noticed that too - but I now have my car keys on one of those detatchable key rings, so it's not such a large thing hanging from the ignition - no more banging, either.
