Into the tranny that is. (sssh)...tommorrow im gonna do it at work (work at a dealership) Kinda nervous as i know tranny's are def. my weak spot. I have my synchromesh and lucas ready to go, new tranny lock nuts and all the tools i would need and more....plus i get the convenience of a hydraulic tranny jack...So, any last good words, advice, prayers? hehe as i have friday till 8ish to get it out ( about 3 hours with two of us working on it), Weld it friday nite and have it back in by 5 on saturday....
better catch up on my sleep now.

are you taking it apart or just installing a clutch. just the clutch is a breeze with the right tools and it sounds like you have that taken care off. i did my clutch and flywheel at my shop in no time. have faith, going into it knowing youll kick its ass and the rest will fall into place.

hehe thanks, we'll see it's newness on top of newness and i really cant bear to be without my car for a week should something go wrong

I guess you have to know how to read english first :p

in all seriousness, I understand her fine. Im not sure what the problem is... ??

sooooo pj is has new lock nuts and all the tools needed to install lockmesh and lucas because the newness of the newness is not good for welding at night for limited sleep causes a cluch job? good? cool I got it then.

er. i dunno either.... the tranny work new to me, Im new to the car....newness on top of newness. clear now?

newness (peajay) installing teh new hawtness(new, better stuff) into newness (new car). i get it.:)

What's funny is, I'm usually the one bitching about horrible spelling or unclear grammar, and I knew exactly what was being discussed. That's friggin' hilarious (for once).

Its 11pm friday night, just got home after welding the diff. It's really not all that bad. Started at about 4:30 and had it out at 7:30....3 hours. Im happy with that. Now comes the harder part of making sure my gears are where they need to be on the install. i got the pics from the write up so hooray for that i have a feeling it will be a life saver!!

I also see that you or someone in your household isn't afraid of a few Miller Lites. Good choice... having one now. *burp*

PM me with an email addy that can handle a large attachment and I'll send you a Word doc with tips on the tranny reassembly and a bunch of pics that should help you.

Done!!!!

It's done, it's over with. haha, not that bad at all and i like the synchromesh/lucas blend that a few people have been raving about.
thanks for all the write ups and reviews and opinions that everyone has shared on the board about this issue.....very helpful!

the next time you take the tranny out it will only take half the time. i swear i can do msp tranny jobs in my sleep now lol hope you like the welded lsd. I did not weld mine when it broke i just got the revised lsd from mazda. i take it your warranty is gone so you rewelded your tochigi rather then get the newer orsen style from mazda?

mine was never broken. i decided to weld it before it had a chance to. i have to put money into brakes and tires before i do anything else so this was my little 'hold over' till i can get a better, non mazda, design. I still have my warrenty for about another year (time wise) and i think im gonna go in and try and get a bent control arm in the rear and maybe some of my dash lights warrentied. they seem to be dim at the top and very accentuated at the bottom of the cluster and it just doenst seem normal to me so while i can still get it warrantied definitly want to. never had a car new enough to be under warranty still and ive only had it a week or so, so i cant bear to part with it just yet. hehe

Glad to hear it went well, that LSD should stay in one piece now. The LSD is not really an issue that people have had, it's the welds themselves that are the weak point and why everyone (like me) hates it so much.

my lsd did not have welds on it when i took it out. I just wanted that little extra piece of mind.

doing it right the first... or when its a good time is always better then being towed home and having no ride and rushing though it.

in case you dont know what its like to do it in a rush or when it sucks, heres some pics. p. s. it was 2 degrees out.
