Having the front plate in the window is legal, go to this site and print this out and carry in you car. It states the attachment to the front of the car and says nothing about being on the bumper just plainly visible from the front under four feet.

I have had to show it to officers three times now and each time they have let me go problem free, even a congrats for doing research.

Does anyone know what the law is in Idaho?? If a plate on the dash is illegal or legal? If that wasn't going to work after I put a new bumper on I was thinking of modding my front liscense plate to look like a foreign one. Cut off as much as I can with still showing numbers, state, and tags. Then put it in my lower grille

i believe that it has to be mounted on the front of the car. i got pulled over in 2005 for no front plate by the wonderful bike cops patrolling sherman ave and when i asked them about putting it in my windshield they said it has to be mounted on the front of the vehicle. im not sure if they were just being asses cause they could, but im sure you can find the statue somewhere on here:

Hey sam. Thanks for the info bud. Yah I figured Idaho cops wouldn't dig the plate on the dash. Now I wonder what they say if I cut up my plate like I described above. I would think it would be fine as long as your numbers, state, and tags are still there it would be fine. I noticed that joka1 bent his plates. Hey joka1 do washington cops herras you for the bent front plate??

i dont remember where i heard this, but iirc its a misdemeanor to alter your license plates, as they are actually state property, lol.

A frickin misdameanor! Damn! I hate front liscense plates! there so pointless! State property my but, I paid for them! lol

My plate is bent quite a bit (Top and bottom is rolled over) and i have been pulled over quite a bit and no cop has ever given me a ticket or said anything about it.

So if it is a law i guess that is just one more i am breaking with my car ;)
Rob

BTW remember to vove NW folks. I dont care for who, Just vote for someone for ROTM :)

i dont really remember where i heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it is illegal. im sure bending is one thing, but when you start to cut it up, thats another thing. i bet you could probably get away with it, at least for a while, but if you're down on sherman in the summer, you're almost certain to get nailed if it is in fact illegal. they stop anyone for the smallest little thing, especially those with modified cars, just to see what else they can get them for.

$171 in Oregon. I've found that very few states actually don't require a front plate.

I wouldn't want a sharp object like that in my car when I get in an accident. I'd rather keep my head intact.

i used little suction cups so it wouldn't slide around on the dash when cornering etc.

I have been doing the same thing since I have my p5. Haven't got any ticket so far(knocking on wood).
