Exhaust Question

if u put a silencer in, doesnt that defeat the purpose of upgrading the exhaust? ur just giving it more back-pressure right? i put my racing beat catback on the other day to go with my obx header and MAM catted midpipe. i love it! it growls very nicely when you stomp on the gas.
if you go to the racing beat website you can get just the muffler by itself

Wait,going back to the HKS,I wanted to get it in the past but I was told that the muffler heats up the hanger,which then breaks.Is this true??

I had the Bosal and I liked it until I added the high-flow and header, wow really loud.
Now I have the Tanabe Super Medalion and it is amazing ($$), absolutely love it, in fact they now make a touring edition that has an even mellower sound and that's what I want, gotta sell mine first. Takers??

Is that Tanabe a cat-back system...couldn't find anything on the site that said one or the other....Looks hot tho...How's the Super Medalion on the highway with headers and mid-pipe????

Tanabe makes axle back, makes sence since the stock mid pipe is plenty open at 2" and stainless. The sound on the highway at 3600rpm with the sunroof open makes it tough (the new touring model is the answer I think, I have supermedalion), crank the stereo and forget about conversation. That's why I'm looking to swap out my 5th gear with an 88/89 626. Lowers to 3100'ish.

I have the Mazdaspeed exhaust. I love the fit and finish, and the sound is very deep. Not like some of that other s***t out there.

Well i JUST finished installing my RB off my buddies speed on my p5. It is the racing beat one (says so right on the muffler). Anyway i had to cut it back some so i though why not let it hang out bast the furthers part of the bumper by an inch (instead of shortening it 5in i only did 3). So anyway it looks nice but becasue its further back out from the bumper i dont get any drone or reverb off of it. Acutally its no louder then stock in the city and only slightly over 4k but deffently made a difference power wise.

So no noise issues at all and i woudl say about 6hp peak from that and my injen combined.

Looks worse then it is on the first pic so i took one along the furthest back part of the bumper to show mow much past the car its self it sticks out.


If you look carefuly at the tip here you can just see a bit of the mazdaspeed logo.
