I am eventually going to get a MP3 front splitter but I had a couple of questions: how is it installed and what(if anything) is replaced buy it?

I just got one and waiting to install. Nothing is replaced. It is just a plastic piece that goes under the bumper. You will have to drill holes though to mount it.

I fabricated my own. It's indeed subtle.

i bought one a long time ago.as a matter of fact i was the first on the forum:bs: j/k but seriously i like it.its very subtle but looks damn good if your going for that sleeper look.you just have to make sure you move the wires for your fogs out of the way so you dont damage it.other than that its a breeze.the 2 bolts on the end you do first since the go thru your mud guards and then you just drill and bolt down the rest.easy as pie.

Yeah, exactly like socommathews here explained. To make drilling easier I taped the splitter to the bumper after the first two bolts (pre-existing) were already in and I just used the splitter itself as a drill guide - just had to be careful not to catch it with the bit. Definitely be aware of where your foglight wiring is because you will be drilling very close to where they are. Anyway, I've also attached a pic of my car with it too just like everyone else (first) .

the splitter on the DG lip looks really really badass, although i dunno how well it would work for a brighter color (like spicy orange)

Actually, my material is slightly thicker than stock so you see it just a tad bit more and it's painted silver now. Also has a slightly different shape since I eyeballed shaping it on my own bumper.
