Brake calipers....

Well after much consideration I thought I'd give the painted caliper thing a try. I didn't want spray so I found a brush-on kit, DupliColor. I test painted a random metal piece to verify color. The color seemed perfect.

So after much time of cleaning the caliper, masking, painting, extra coats, etc.... I spent hours on this thing. I actually felt stupid for spending that much time on something so minor. I'm not satisfied w/ the color, it seems like it's got a tad too much yellow in it. Oh well.... no turning back now (unless I decide to do it again w/ black).

I'm doing pads and rotors next weekend.... I can't wait to get rid of these nasty rusty things.

I wouldn't be worried about the color of the calipers as much as the color of the decals (shocked)......the calipers look great though just going from the pictures....I'm doing mine black this summer just to not see rust color every time I drive somewhere. Great job on the calipers.

Why would you like the calipers but not the decals?

Those are actual sponsor stickers btw... not random company logos. The color of the vinyl and powdercoat (all the GTSpec pieces) were match to be almost identical.

The vinyl matches the powdercoat... it's blood red.

im gettin mines painted black... thats later though, don't have time now...

looks great by the way...

Ya. That dupicolor kit is pretty nice... I painted mine w/the red a loooong ass time ago... prob early 2004. Held up pretty good, but it was time for a new coat. Spent two nights this past week painting the rotors & rear guards black, and giving the calipers a fresh new coat. Looks 120% better, especially since you can say goodbye to the nasty rust :D Pics tomorrow maybe...

Nice work! Adjusted photo just a bit for color.

You're right.....it's not like this is a car forum where people post photos of their cars and everyone else gives their opinion on overall look of the car as well as the part being featured. :)

It's fine if people comment on other things.... It does bother me however when people think I do things randomly. It's fine if people don't like things, but there is absolutely nothing randomly done on this car. I've tried to make everything match and flow as humanly possible.

Here's a the sub I picked up on Friday.....

Looks good, Black will look better though.

I don't think I've actually seen black. I was going to go with black but they store didn't have it but did have silver, my second choice. I don't mind the silver, matches the color of my paint pretty well.

looks good, can tell you took your time. here's mine in black, I also brushed it on, but I did use a spraypaint and a sponge brush, came out great imo.

Does that mean you sprayed paint into a container and applied it w/ a brush? (uhm)

yes sir, I actually sprayed it directly on th ebrush over a container, someone recommended it to me before I did it and I can't complain with it one bit, been well over a year and the paint has held up great, havent touched them up once.
