the reason why i am curious cause i just purchased a brand new aem short ram intake and it the 2 pieces seemed different than the pictures on the net. the manual that it came with had pictures of it facing downwards, just like the first picture i posted. im just really confused and i wanted to see if im just making up stuff or something i dont know, thanks for the help

well if you got the one like the first pic than its better because the other ones are right in front of the fan that blows hot hot hot air into it at least the first one is down more and getting somewhat cooler air

ones the manual version ones auto version
cant be because the car in the first pic is an auto and the intake in the second pic is the one i have and im auto unless the dude bought a manual one and out it in anyways

Short = Auto

You can put a manual SRI on a Auto, it doesn't really matter. If you do have the longer SRI however and mount it like that (right next to the transmission in protege5gurly's picture) then it is said you lose HP because of heat soak.

Most people reposition it like this:

Peace

I had baught the AEM CAI for a manual and i custom fitted it like in the very first pic. how is it mounted in that pic^? or is it just sitting there?

damn i wish i would of known about using the manual version on an automatic i would have gotten that one s*** any one want to buy mine

Short/Long

Well a short ram is pretty much self explanitory, it does NOT go further down towards the bottom of the car. I have a Injen CAI and that intake goes into the wheel well so it keeps pretty cool getting air from down under and also keeps away from the engine heat. But, a very big but if you do have it going down like that make sure you don't go over deep puddles or get the AEM bypass so you don't seize your engine, like my dummass friend who blew his M5 engine. Imagine that, for a 40-50 $ peice. Hope this helps. Peace.
