hi all, why do some msp ecu's have msp-18881 etc and some have FSAE-18881-A? I just got one today from a member here and the part looks legit according to some sites that sell salvaged ecu's... i was just wondering. Could it be early msp ecu's?

hmmmm i guess noone knows....oh well i removed my lx ecu and the number is totaly differnt. im sure its ok

There are many part #'s for the same part it just maters what month or year a part was made. A lot of the parts are supersited by a different part, but it's the same thing.

awww man i just compared the 2 and my lx part number is fsae-18881-c
the msp ecu #is fsae-18881-a...now im worried!!!! i dont want to boost if its the same as my old ecu...i just got done removing the fm clamp!!!!!!!!!

wow im really confused because i had this FSAE-18881-C in my NA protege for a long while non boosted......did someone install a msp ecu in my car by accident? and 2 why did it run good with a msp ecu non turbo? wow they are almost the same part number cept my lx has C at the end and the one that fixedspicylsd sent me has A at the end........I really dont want a NAZI ECU telling itself to pull fuel and blow itslef up.

seems to me the FSAE ECUs are the ones installed from the factory and the MSP0 ones are the replacements

I wonder if a dealer could just flash a regular Pro ECU for you and just charge a couple of bucks. If they could they could make a couple of bucks and it doesn't cost them a thing. Just curious, anyone.

well on a positive note i installed it anyways and drove it, went under light boost and it pegged rich. im going to mazda dealer tommorow and verify if this is indeed a msp ecu. I talked to the part guy b4 when i bought my mazda6...he thought it was cool that a boosted my 03 protege with only 500 miles on the odometer.

ok guys I had to dig deep but this is what i found.... I HAVE 2 MSP ECU'S!!!!!!! (thumb) according to mazda dealership parts deparment my
FSAE-188881-A AND FSAE-18881-C ARE BOTH USED IN MSP'S AT ONE POINT IN TIME. He told me that my lx ecu the FSAE-18881-C CAN HANDLE BOTH MSP DUTY AND REG MT PROTEGE DUTY (boom07) . its weired that the msp and mt protege have soo many prta numbers for ecu's fromt the ones listed above to fsae-18881-a,b,c,d and also the one that have mspe-18881
so u 03manual protege guys may want to check ur ecu's and see if u have these part number. boosting ur car should be that much easier.

I know mine is a FS7N-18-881B.... IMO the best non-turbo one there is other than the MP3 one ;)

HEHE IM SURE IT IS (thumb) . just wondering y msp ecu was in my car but now i know y. to be honest sound slike there wasnt much diff between ecu's.
but i dont know maybe mp5's and ES have different ones too. i was supprised to hear that from the parts guys mouth that the ecu was all the same... heres how it went i was like hi can a get a price on this part number...FSAE-18881-A? he was like yeah........(1 minute wait) then ok sir its about 1000 and same change.....i was like ok cool does that work with msp's? ?(another 1 minute wait) then yup msp's has alot of ecu's that work with it that part number plus b,c,d. I was liie then y was a FSAE-18881-c in my 03 protege lx? he was liek because that ecu is for both cars..... i was liek ok ur the parts man...thanks!!! OH BTW the FSAE-18881-A has the hesitation car runs rich. (thumb)

Well, damn...
I just paid $200 for a msp ECU come to find out that I had one in the garage the whole time.
(I thought the number(FSAE-18881-A) was out of a p5/mp3 (the previous owner of my turbo kit didn't know) )
_____
so

Msp ecu #'s are

FSAE-18881-A
FSAE-18881-B
FSAE-18881-C
FSAE-18881-D

My stock 2002 lx ECU # was : FS8L-18881-C
