Looks nice CH
Did you mig or tig it? Mig I take it?
It will look a lot better when you coat it. Are you going to high temp coat it or ceramic coat it?
We use the same weld els that you are utilizing as well....good stuff.
I agree with you on the mild steel, that stuff will not last longer than 1 year. And stainless is not to great, lots of thermal expansion. (really easy to weld up though)
how can you regulate boost effectively when you have it placed on one runner?
Your wategate placement looks fine. Yes the optimal place would be in the collector but packaging and design constraints limit things. Our wastgates are mounted in an individual runner and boost spike is not a problem when running an external. More issues actually arise with external wastegate setup when they are plumbed back into the downpipe incorrectly
it looks nice and the welds can be cleaned up thats no big deal
Its alot more difficult to weld weld els than what everybody else uses (mild and stainless) These materials are lot more easier to work with and you can have nice and pretty seamless welds on those materials with a Tig.
But the fact is that mild steel is crap. I sold a mild steel manifold to a local customer about 5 moonths ago (Thats what he wanted because it was more cost effective) But now he has a cracked manifold. CH learned the hard way just like I have personaly from past experiences.
Yes the welds aint that pretty but I think you did a pretty good job for the experience you have. I am not a welder by any means and I personaly do not design manifolds....but it is a very dificult blend of art and science
