New Camera!

Yeah so Nicole's old camera (Fuji A205) finally died today. So it was time for her to get a new camera. At the same time, I had wanted to look into getting a different camera for myself. So... I got the new camera and she got my old one. I had a Canon A-80 which is nowhere near a "cheap" or "crappy" camera, so she was happy. I got myself the Canon S1 IS http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1072286920993&skuId=6283862&productCategoryId=pcmcat44100050010&type=product

She needed it tomorrow (I needed mine too) otherwise I would've shopped around a bit for price :(.

So I went from 4mp down to 3mp.
But I went from a 3x optical to a 10x optical w/image stabilization

And the camera is just so much more advanced. It rocks! It can take vertical panoramics as well as four-panel pictures (4 pictures arranged like a Tetris square). Nicole's first question was "oh, so you could take several pictures of me from head to toe and then stitch them together to form a panoramic?" Huge smile and nod :-D.

1st shot is normal
2nd shot is at full optical zoom (10x)
3rd shot is full optical and digital zoom (32x)

its pretty good. i got two cameras, one is a concord 4MP that I got at office max for $99 brand new and the other one i just got at best buy at their open box item sale. its a 4MP kodak and i paid $99 for that too.

Good camera takes great pictures........too bad it doesn't have the lithium-ion battery:( That was the closing point for my Sony digital camera....well, the 5 mega-pixels also made a little bit of difference too:)

Eh. 4 AA nimh batteries are more than enough for me.

Yeah I suppose having 4 or 5 mp would be better. But I like having the 10x zoom and what sold me was the image stabalizer. Plus it's got so many professional modes it just doesn't compare to anything else. Next stop - Canon Digital Rebel (next year if I get full time)

D00d you need a tripod.
I have several (you've probably seen me w/them at the meets). I just didn't feel like taking it out to take a picture of Bic's wite-out. I suppose I probably should've adjusted the lighting as well. Sorry.

Digital Rebel will pwn joo forever! Interchangable lenses, lots of stuff.... also a grandish
Best part of that setup is I already own two lenses for my older Canon EOS 35mm which will work in the Rebel. So that's money saved right there!

Meh if youre gonna show off the camera, why not?

tru, but I was trying to show the raw zooming ability. When I find a more worthy subject to photograph (and the car's clean), I'll post up some pics. Until then, you'll just have to deal with wite-out :-P
