I had a hard time finding anything with the search function...

But I've got the DG Motorsports poly lip sitting on the front of the car. Due to it being poly it kind of does it's own thing.

I was considering gluing it on (a permanent install). Everyone says double sided tape, but I'm not sure if that will hold the top part down where it goes into the grill area.

I'm going to take a hair dryer to it tonight and try to get it to sit perfectly everywhere against the bumper.

Does anyone have any input on getting one of these on?

(for the record, there's nothing wrong with the product. I just want it to fit nicely and I want to do it myself :))

After a little trimming to make the lip fit better on some of the edges, more test fitting, and painting, I installed my lip this past Sunday. I used double-sided 3m tape for the sides and under the fog lights...but it doesn't seem to hold very well. I'll try a heat gun as well.

My lip also seems to be a 1/4 inch to long on each end that goes into the fender well. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this particular issue...but I'll post some pics. Otherwise the fit is decent around the front edges of the bumper. I've just got to figure out what to do about the extra length on the ends. The bumper still looks good, but I'm anal and it does bother me a little.

Lip install

After a little trimming, I installed mine with one screw in each wheel well, one screw in each opening in the front and a small bead of silicone on the top part where it sits near the grill. It's been a few months now, never moved. Great product, thanks DGM.

That's exactly what I thought would happen.

The silicone.... Do you think you could remove the lip if you needed to? And without causing much harm to the bumper?

Well I'll be damned...I'm not imagining things. EXACT thing is happening to me. I had to ghetto-rig it with some washers to get the rear of the lip to pull back far enough for a flush front fit. The pics I post tonight will show the stack-o-washers.

I'll be replacing the washers with some rubber bushing material. It's what I'll have to do to get any fit consistency in the front....fortunately it's only 1/4 of an inch or so off. Otherwise, I'd be livid.

This is something I'll PM Aimee at DG about. She posts on here pretty regularly, so I'll at least address the problem. So please, let's not start to flame their products. Maybe our input can be used to correct the problem. Anyone else having this issue?

well im working on mine right know -- im trying really hard not to have to use washers but it looks like i might have too -- id rather have a little gap at the fender than the front if i have to choose -- so we'll see if i get lucky ( not ) :)

I PM'd Aimee about the problem and gave her the link to this thread. Like I said, I'll have some pics up tonight to demonstrate the gap...it's small, but is making fitment a hassle. I agree, I'd rather have the gap at the back then at the front. If you come up with a better way to eat that space up other than washers (and no post-whoring answers like JB weld), let everyone know.

here are a couple pics of what i have --- and yes i do know that i am not a professional -- so if any of you see that i might have something wrong then let me know --- the lip is all the way forward to try and fill the gaps -- in fact part of it is actually sitting on the black grill -- any ways take a look --- :)

the fitment problem really needs to be dealt with by DG. they dont seem to have made it any better. all they say is, 'we found that trimming makes a better fitment.' i think its BS. when you pay that much for something, it should be a clean fit. we shouldnt have to ghetto-rig or trim anything to make it fit good. my fitment sucks but what am i going to do about it now? its painted, installed and everything. i think they really need deal with this issue. it has made me weary of purchasing other products from them.

flame me if you want, but im tired of seeing people not happy with their fitment at all but they sugar coat it and say it aight. its not alright and it needs to be fixed by DG.

DG does not have the ability to fit every product they make on a car to make sure it is 100% perfect.

A lot of fitment issues can be fixed with simple trimming and what not. You will experience that with most any body part. Besides the hardcore super expensive Japanese stuff.

i have no problem with trimming --- but if i do the the gap at the fender would be huge -- i already have a little washer there to help just for photos -- and as you can tell from the photos on the driver side i still have to go back further to get that bow out --

so trimming is easy but trying to fill a 1/4 gap thats in the open at the fender is a little harder --- im going to go see what the body shop says about it ---

i just order two lips (1 for me and 1 for a friend) i will be rather pissed if this is the reason why they are on sale. i thought everyone was happy with DG motorsports and they are a household name on this site. it seems that more people are lashing out and it gets me kind of worried about the quality of the products i will receive on friday from them. i know a few people had the lip molded to the front end, but is that the only true solution to the gap? this is the first product i bought from DG and i hope this won't be the last

Ok...photos are up of the fitment problems I mentioned, but I had to put them in an imagestation gallery.

I should add that I was able to use the bottom-most factory screw opening to attach the lip to the inside fenderwell. I had to use what I call the "bubble-gum trick" to find out the exact position to drill the holes so the factory mounting points could be used. Had I drilled into the fender liner...more washers would have been needed.
