Anyone know where I could find a high flow 2nd cat to bolt up to my AWR header? The one from wagner won't work as far as I can tell... Are there any others, I've been searching around on the net and can't find sheet.

I just got my midpipe from Wagner (it took about 3 months to get), but I am going to use it with my AWR header. It is the one without the cat, but they are both the same length and diameter. Maybe you are looking at the downpipe? I sure hope so. This damn thing better fit. :) Here is a pic I just took.

ps Im not necessarily recommending Wagner. Just letting you know what I got.

What is the purpose of a second CAT?

The first one is removed by the AWR header. It was really more of a pre-cat. They put it right in front of the engine so it warms up quickly. The one under the car is the main cat. Im guessing that he needs at least one to pass emissions testing? Luckily, here in Alabama, we dont have to worry about such stuff. :)

Mazda just used two so they could get ultra low emissions vehicle status, I think. Bah, I dont care about that s***. :)

Looks like you are going the same route as I am. I have the K&N CAI however, and my AWR header is in Mississippi getting coated at JET-HOT as we speak (what color did you get and how do you like it..., and the MAGNAFLOW cat back is next on my hit list.... How does your ride feel and sound right now before you put on the mid pipe?

I don't need a cat at all for emmissions where I live right now, but I might move into the city and would need it then.... bummer...

If the wagner bolts up fine, please let me know and I'll get the one with the cat... $300 may sound like a lot of dough, but has anyone looked at the cost of a stock replacement cat?? Your talkin $600+........... (crazy). Half that for a performance upgrade is a super deal and much less w/o a cat is a steal for you dude!!

I got the standard finish, polished I guess. It looks really nice (attached a pic of it installed). Looks the exact same now as it did when I got it, no changing color or anything. Worth 190 bucks? I really dont know.

As for the magnaflow, I need to make a video of it. Everyone wants to know how these exhausts sound. Anyway, it sounds good. With the header, CAI, and magnaflow, it can get a loud on the interstate doing 80 (hard to talk on my cellphone), but other than that, I never notice it. When I add the midpipe it may be different. As you can see in my sig, I gained a little power off the CAI and cat-back, but not too much.

I'll start a thread when I get the midpipe installed (if it fits), and get the car dyno'd again too.

EDIT: Also, just a heads up, make sure not to overtighten the bolts/nuts when installing the header. Use a torque wrench and only torque to between 14-18 ft-lbs. I overdid it the first time, and had pieces of the threads come out with the bolts. :( just fyi.

Thanks for the reponse. Here is another ? would the main cat still remain? If so, then the car would have two(2) cat? help. and the only reason that you would have two(2) cat is for the header application......(confused)
Thanks again

Well yes, if you install most headers, it will remove the first catalytic converter (the pre-cat), but you will still have the main cat that is directly under your shifter. I am replacing that second one with just a pipe really (called a mid-pipe or B pipe I think), so I will have no cats on my car. This will cause you problems if you have to pass emissions tests in your state.

However, there are shorty headers available that keep the pre-cat, but I don't think they are worth the expense or trouble of installing them.

Hope this clears it up,

Thanks again, what is a shorty header? does it do the samething as a regular header? if so, how much do you think it will cost?

Here is a pic of a shorty header:

http://essentialspeed.com/shop/detail.asp?product_id=EsP5eq

It keeps that first cat. Some people use the shorty header if they have strict emissions tests. It does give some gain, but usually not as much as a full header.

Cost = $455 for that one in the pic. Ouch! About the same amount I paid for my full header. But essential speed makes good products from what i have heard.
