taken out A/C

Has anyone taken out their A/C, and A/C piping? I've been thinkin about it. I hate air conditioning. Plus it's a little less weight and one less pulley to turn.

Can I have it? Florida is a hell hole when it comes to summer heat. I hate opening the doors and watching the heat come out.
Edit: Mine works, but it would be twice as nice with 2

I know how you feel.... I've live in Fl for the last 10 years... can't imagine living without it. Thinking about auto start just so I can turn on the ac before I get into the car.....

if You ever decide to sell your car , it'll be harder without the A/C. Resale value is not gonna be the same...

are you insane? i was just thinkin how much i love my MSP a/c, its not perfect, but seems to get colder than alot of my friends cars.

I think the AC in the MSP sucks, it takes forever to cool the car. My sunfire was a pOS and the AC worked better in it :(

NC may not be FL but it stil stay's in the high 80's to mid 90's around here throughout the summer. I just personally don't like it. I'd rather have the wind blowing through the windows. I wonder if I could find shorter belt, if I do decide to take it out?

You could easily find a shorter belt, once it's taken off just use a piece of string to trace the belt, eliminating the A/C, then measure the string and go to an autoparts store and ask for one that long. Problem is, and I haven't looked at the belt diagram, on some cars when you bypass something the belt won't have enough tension to spin another pulley (power steering, alternator, etc.) or you'd have one pulley going the wrong way or something.

Here's 2 diagrams I threw together, the first example on the left is a picture of a possible belt setup. The second example on the right shows a possible problem if the AC was taken out. Before you do decide to take it out find the diagram for your car (duh) to make sure it'll work.

Thanks for the diagram. there should be one somewhere under the hood. I'll go check it out. O Marashka I can always put the a/c back on if I ever want to sell it or trade it in. But that would be hard anyway with all the aftermarket products on it.

I went out and looked at the MSP and surprise surprise there wasn't a belt diagram underneath the hood. But anyway it should be do able. We don't have a serpentine belt and it looks like the uc pulley, the power steering pulley, and the a/c pulley are on one belt. While the uc, alternator, and tensionor are on another. So I would think that it could be done. I'll have to really think about it before I do it, and do some more research.
