Service past due message randomly appears

Hello,

i experienced service past due message appears, car is 8 months old and has 12.000km (limit for a service is 1 year or 20.000km in Europe). In other posts some users experienced similar issue and upgrade of cmu is recommended. My question is shall i are or not? I don’t want to damage my car:-(. Thank you

As i said the yellow message service past due doesn’t appear always. It appears randomly. Usually with cold engine. After driving and starting again no message.

I'm experiencing the same thing too (U.S. model). I may mention it to the dealer when I take it in for the recall (rocker arm may fall off issue - engines with cylinder deactivation). I recall seeing other threads on this; however, it is more of an irritant and I'm in no hurry to get this fixed.
