New 2025 CX-5 with highway vibration problem; tires?

The vibration is a tire defect or tire balancing issue. The Toyo A36 were very smooth for me.
I sure hope so! As I told the tire shop guy, I just want the problem to go away. Searching back I did find posts of people saying it took more extensive repairs to the drivetrain or suspensions eg lower control arms. It isn't Always vibrating, which I expected if just tires (but I'm not a tire specialist). This rumble/vibration comes through the steering wheel, then goes away before repeating ... the cycle taking maybe 3-5s. Nothing noticeable driving around town. Very odd, and I'm not the first to experience it. Some who had bigger problems had to escalate it up to Mazda to get a fix ordered, and I'd rather not have to do that but I will. This is my first car - Mazda or otherwise - to have a manufacturer defect out the door :(

My new 2025 CX-5 (Toyo tires) is smooth on the highway. I did notice that there is a large amount of balancing weights inside the wheels.

I hope you like them - and that I will too! Good things being said here, at least.
And some advice.....they're asymmetrical, so make sure they're mounted correctly; inside/outside. Three of mine were installed incorrectly and had to have them redone. Funny how the installer didn't know that.

I have them too. Very happy with them.

The stock factory Yokohama Geolandar G91A in 225/65R17 were total crap. One of mine started developing bubbles in the sidewall a little after 18k so they all got replaced.

My stock tires seem to vibrate a bit on the drive into town, but on the way home are pretty smooth. Every time...

How long between drives? Sounds like your tires are flat-spotting while the car is parked. Check your tire pressures too.

That's pretty discouraging! I'll check - thanks

Many years ago I had a car with directional tires, and I am standing there watching the technician about to rotate the tires incorrectly. He was a middle aged guy, so I hated to tell him how to do his job. When I mentioned it to him, he was perplexed… he was completely unaware of tires being directional. This was at the dealership.

No!!!! At the dealership. Hadn't heard of directional tires? That's a little scary.

And then there was the little Yellow or Red Dot on the tires. Over the past number of years I have had at least a half dozen sets of tires installed by qualified installers and not one has positioned the DOT over the tire valve.

I’ve seen the red dot. Refresh me on that, what is the purpose of the red and yellow dots on the sidewalk? My factory Toyo's the red dot was not directly near the valve stems.

The yellow dot should be positioned at the valve stem. The yellow dot indicates the lightest point on the tire.
