I'm new here and this is my P5 race car

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I picked up this one-time Grand Am Cup race car last summer.

It's got a Mazdaspeed Protege swap, Dynamic Suspensions coilovers, and pretty much every AWR goody you can name. The plan is to build an endurance racing team for Lucky Dog Racing Canada, though until then, I'm planning to do some lapping and sprint racing with Lucky Dog.

Lets gooo! That thing is sick!! And a good amount of power too. I feel like I've seen pics of it recently, maybe on reddit or Instagram? Look forward to seeing more updates. You should definitely post a video of driving it with cool turbo noises and all. This thread definitely belongs in the builds section if you keep posting here.

It has been posted on Reddit, Instagram and Facebook. I'll be on track Easter weekend, and there should be video afterwards.

I don't really consider it a build, since I bought it as a race-ready car. I've just been updating the safety equipment that had expired, and doing maintenance and some race prep.

Anyhow, here's some more pics for fun:

Well that didn't go as planned. Cold weather meant that I couldn't push hard Saturday morning. Started to notice a bit of oil smoke from the exhaust, possibly turbo seals on their way out, but not bad enough to stop. Then late in the 3rd session, the transmission started kicking out of 5th gear when slowing for turn 8. Came in to find gear oil leaking from the transmission end cover. Game over. It was fun while it lasted, but now it's back to the garage to get ready for the next event.

Transmission is out, and the problem has been found.
The retaining nut for 5th gear wasn't peened correctly and backed off the shaft, cutting into the end cover.
The gear itself was able to move on the shaft, pushing on the shirt fork, causing the transmission to kick out of 5th gear.
Amazingly, there appears to be no other damage, so a new nut and cover, and the transmission will go right back in place.

We got out on track, did some personal best laps, had some clutch pedal problems, then a big *bang* under full throttle... this is some clutch material that we found behind the clutch lever boot.
