CX-5 Sales continue to set records

Sorry, I don't believe you. There was nothing so cheap-ass in the Compass that I sat in, and my impression from riding in Cherokees and Grand Cherokees is that their interior quality is above average for the class. For example, the top trim of the Cherokee is just as nice inside as the CX-5 GT. IMO, they're overpriced and unreliable, but they are nice vehicles.

Overpriced and unreliable instantly takes anything out of the nice category.

Jeep is a sad story. It’s been tossed like a hot potato between companies and even the military shuns them. Toyota Tacoma HiLux is the preferred rig now.

Fiat is not known for its reliability. They are mocked in the car world just like old Jaguars were.

Yeah but they are not nearly as bad as they were back in the 1970's and 80s. Fiat's have gotten quite good actually.

I've never had any friends or family that have owned a FIAT. I always heard the Fix It Again Tony joke though

Insufficient sales to get on the CU reliability radar

"As we told you yesterday, Fiat’s sales are best imagined as a heavy stone — one that drops heavily into a pond after a brief, victorious flight. Two years of consecutive month-over-month sales declines in the United States is a grim situation for any brand, let alone one reintroduced just seven years ago. Blame America’s growing allergy to small cars, or a neglectful corporate parent — whatever the reason, something has to be done.

The purpose of this article isn’t to, um, throw stones at Fiat’s four-model lineup; it’s to give you an opportunity to save the brand. Or kill it off for a second time."

There have been rumors for some time now that Fiat would love nothing better than to unload Chrysler and get out of the shotgun marriage that was forced upon them. Sadly they cannot find any buyers. The Chinese are being patient, waiting for a better price.

Yes, Fiat has no future in the USA but is still doing well in Europe and Asia.

Fiat sell well as a value car but from a mechanical point of view I consider them Walmart “own brand”. It gets the masses into a newer car but after a low purchase price, money falls off them. To be avoided would be my opinion.

But then you have Tesla, Land rover, and some others with big price tags that offer similar amenities and are even shoddier, so i dunno...

Can’t speak for Tesla but the Land Rover product is appalling. It’s a shame as they look and feel the part but at least if you own a Fiat you can afford to live with it’s shortcomings. The weird thing, people that own them often seem to accept the liability that goes with them.

When I lived in England, we had a Fiat Punto and a WRX. The WRX was nothing but constant trouble and the Punto was solid. When our WRX was down, we took the Punto to the continent and that car was great. Easily did the ton and got great mileage.

Maybe they’re getting a grip of things. Good to hear your experience.

Yeah, but I should remember that was the late 90's and I was a poor student! When I came over, I actually wanted to get a nice MGB (yes, More Grief) but we ended up getting the Fiat! So my bar for reliability may have been really low! And my experience may just be my own. (:

More records broken in February. If it wasn't for the still slumping car sales, Mazda might have actually gained some marketing share.
I'm optimistic that the giant 6 slump here is partly because people are waiting for the new one. I know I would be.

Can we get this thread stickied, @Chris_top_her?

Agree. Mazda car sales are doing very well - in China. The CX family is doing well.

Hard to disagree. While Toyota and Honda V6 engines are comparable in terms of reliability, Toyota transmissions seem to hold up way better..especially in trucks. Honda historically have issues on trannies linked to V6's.

Of all the tranny issues, all have been from honda family.
1987 legend = bad 5th gear
2007 s2000 = bad 2nd gear

my Genesis Coupe had a bad transmission too. gearbox replaced at around 140k km. 5th and 6th were grindy and hard to get into. Also there was this god awful sound on accel and decel after I put in my Single Mass Flywheel. Sounded like the car was going to fall apart between like 1500 and 2500 RPM. Was not pleasant. Fun car tho aside from some of the issues, which were probably part and part buying it used at 107k and the mod list. lol

Our figures are out

Mazda CX-5 5th best selling vehicle in the country.

Number 1 SUV again: 2191 units sold

One of those 2191 is yours, correct?

Not yet.

April/May is when the minor refresh appears (March is when they started getting manufactured in Japan) so around then or there after is when I am purchasing one :)
