I have a felling CX5 diesel is not coming. It was an attempt at a low hanging fruit - if MZD could sell 16K more diesel CX5s and maybe spike interest, they would be tapping into rural markets or smaller cities where they have no presence. Folks not in city and driving hills - will love a diesel torque + if it gets a 3000 lb tow rating in US that would mean cheaper alternative for people with some boats etc to haul.
After seeing FCA have issues and lie about meeting EPA #s I cant see Mazda doing it or bringing it in. Its sad - because it builds expectations and takes a dump on them. This hurts them, i am surprised they did not build the 6 2.5 T expectations and it is being released, still think CX5 2.5L has the best tuned transmission in the MZD lineup 3 6 CX3 and CX5. Thats a big plus and folks looking at diesel need to test drive 2.5L for low end torque.
