2017 CX-5 drl question

I have one question on this. Will the headlights go off but the LED strip remain ON when the parking brake is engaged? I was able to locate the low voltage lines on my wife's KIA Soul by tracing the low voltage line down by using the parking brake (brake on lights off so no voltage to the line) I cut the lines and the DRL went off (not saying I would cut anything on my CX-5)
If you haven't done the fix which is on the previous page, my understanding is only time DRL led goes off completely is when you put it in park.

Not like 2016(.5) CX-5 GT with Tech, your 2017 CX-5's LED headlights are hooked up with LED Signature accent strips together for DRL function. As long as DRL function is activated and on, BOTH of them will be on.

Parker Lights. Can anyone point to where they are are in the headlight cluster in a GT and non-GT? Thanks.

I have the base "sport" in US spec ... which is like the "MAXX" in your spec
On my light Stalk I only have 3 positions ... ( OFF , Parking Lights , LOW BEAMs )

OFF = OFF
Parking lights = Amber lights (turn signals on both sides ) are lite with tail lights ON
Low beam = Low beam on and tail lights on...

I like my low end trim, less gadgets , less to break
lower price , lower running cost

Thanks. What I meant was where are the parker lights in the headlight itself? Is it on the inner or outer side of the main projector beam? Are the parkers LED?

For the Maxx, see the red arrow that is pointing to the parker lights:

For GT, see the freehand red highlight around the the parker lights:

Apologies for the freehand.

What a dumb decision by Mazda. Makes no sense.

Interesting ...
I am amazed about how mazda changes lights n stuff
for different countries ....
for the Maxx the middle light acts as parking light ...
on my US spec "sport" the middle light acts as DRL along with low beam
and when I select the middle position(parking lights)
on my light stalk only the amber and tail lights come on.

My guess it's Mazda USA that requested this just like Mazda Australia & Japan only countries that get side camera where as the rest of the world doesn't

DRL's only available on top 2 models (GT & Akera) here. The rest (Maxx, Maxx Sport & Touring) don't come with any DRL's

Thanks for the freehand! Are the Aus spec parkers LED?

I guess they could act as DRLs like US non-GTs.

Thanks for clearing that up. Looks like parkers on yours only additionally light up the ambers at the front. What is the purpose of amber lights?

I only see side indicator amber permanently on in the new Civic here is AUS which is weird.

Side ambers. We don't have any.

From memory, has to do with some old USA legislation.

Some Volvo's have them here too

No problem!

If you go by what Mazda say in their brochure Headlamps LED across the range then the answer is indeed yes.

Theoretically yes

Having the led low beam along with the middle led on ALL THE TIME while vehicle is in motion
is giving a bunch of people a headache...
I will do the mazda DRL OFF trick to hopefully turn OFF DRL

Having led lowbeam on all the time is not good for its lifespan
since I've also read on mazda247 that 2016 some owners have issues
with their LED lighting...

yet the same light on the base/mid spec CX-9 are used as halogen DRLs. So many variations.

I've got a 2015 6 and no issues what soever with the leds be it DRL on headlights.

Most of the 2016 CX-5's here with DRLs have them all working. Only seen maybe 2 that have faults.

Blame the Mazda penny pinchers/marketing boffins for all the variations across the models

in the video at the 8 min mark ... the CX-5 MAXX (base model )
can be seen driving around using LED low beam and middle LED as DRL lights

Actually it's driving with full lights on. Something lots of reviewers do this over here. Doesn't have DRLs
