What have you done to your MSP today?

Yeah.. you are 100% right about that. I guess if I can get the head on, all the timing done, get the water block on there, and the exhaust brought over, that will be a good enough "head start".
Then you can install your intake and your Turbo as assemblies. It will give you so much more room to work with lowering the engine into the car

everything ive read on the subject claims the probe/626/mx6 5th gear really just lowers your cruising rpm which id be all for. hitting 3.5k on the hwy is a little unnessisary.
id almost be tempted to run the trans straight up with a modified msp. a little bit less acceleration but should be smoother considering where the msp makes its power in boost. I might have to try to get one just to try out.

CHRA showed up today. Got it mostly assembled this evening and will hopefully be driving the car tomorrow.

It's nice that 5th gear drops you by almost 900rpms.

thats quite a lot. we dont really have youpulls around here. i wonder if anyone stateside could snag one for me to try out ;)

Well I think I've heard enough to go for it.. I literally just cleaned inside of the bell housing of the MSP tranny and everything is freshly greased, replaced from the flywheel back and I don't wanna clean the probe tranny. lol. And as a matter of fact it'll be up for grabs if anyone wants it (but with a MSP 5th gear). If it was anything other than 5th I don't think I'd mess with it, but being as its isolated from everything else, it seems easy enough and hopefully won't take too long. Premium aint cheap, I'd like the extra MPG when I'm driving like a normal person. (drive)

I out about 25 miles on it yesterday and cleaned it. It's at 15psi right now. I've got a dew more tweaks and cleaning up I need to do, but it's more or less done. Need to polish my OEM exhaust heat shield and install it along with my Techna Fit clutch line. Happy with how my charge piping came out, too.

At least I'm not the only one with the stupid belt walk problem. Mine walked about 2 ribs almost instantly and then stayed put for 450 miles. I've tried every trick I can think of...

I had the same problem with my P/S belt walking off the pulley exactly as you described.. Check pump on the pivot bolt where it mounts the the engine. There's a bit of side to side wiggle room there and mine was tightened down crooked allowing the belt to jump off. A quick tweak to ensure pulleys were aligned solved the issue.

Interesting... I'll have to check that myself.

Id love if we could get toothed belt accessories and never have this problem....

does anyone happen to know the thread for the stud the lower crossmember attaches to? i think it was a 17 or 19 mm nut but i cant remember. i also need to get some hardware for the front motor mount throughbolt, but i dont think there is anything special about that. just get a long enough bolt and appropriate nut/washer.

its a long story why i dont have these parts lol. but finally got my new front motor mount and swaybar bushings in so i can restore the cars chassis at least to what it should be. no longer the wallowy peice of s*** with no swaybars lol.

also in the market for dampers.. id love to get a set of coils but i never track the car. the eibach springs i have are pretty ideal for a daily driver.. does kyb make anything that would survive a 2" drop or would i be limited to tokico illumina/yellowspeed coils?

My Illuminas have been on for 100k and still perform well. They had Racing Beat springs the first 60k of that and Eibachs the last 30k.

its too bad you cant get struts with adjustable heigh collars like coilovers have... just the bottom of the strut adjustable to not affect travel..ah well. ill see. a pair of illumina would be too expensive.

I'm chugging along.. Oil and coolant is drained, got all the timing stuff off, intake is free, I just need to pull the water block to get the egr tube to let the lower half go. (I cant get the egr tube from the lower intake, in-car.. the angle sucks)

Still on the fence between the 626 intake and the one I "did up". I spent a s*** load of time deleting the VTCS "cleanly", porting, and removing casting marks.. Polishing a lot of stuff since I have two of everything now.. doing the throttle body at the moment. Hopefully get the turbo assembly off in the next day or two and get this head off..

Just use your Mazdaspeed and take that you've already done the work too. You can polish up shave and do whatever you want to the 626 manifold in the meantime

Dyno time is near. l'd like to break 300whp with an AFC (mid-11 AFRs), a GT28R and 18psi. It'll probably be early-June before I get to, though. May do it while I'm on vacation, right after I get back into town before I go back to work. It's only $80 for three pulls. Anyone have a guess what I'll make? I don't think I'm going to change anything before then. All mods are listed below.

I love my combination! Great ride and handles well. I've recommended them to others. My friend had them on his MSM for a while based on my recommendation and regularly autocrossed it. He got coilovers season before last because, ultimately, you're limited. But for daily driving, as well as my time on the Dragon and the mountains, they do awesome.
