I searched for and test drove quite a number of CX-5's before I finally bought one. There were many things to pay attention too especially buying used. Seat comfort was important but on relatively short drives nothing came up as a red flag for me. Also since it's a different car than what I owned the seats were going to feel different anyway. I drove the sport and touring models.
I've had my used 2014 CX-5 Sport (2.0) for about two weeks and I can't seem to find a comfortable seating position. I am somewhat narrow, 33" waist/180lbs, and I find the butt side-bolstering a tad narrow too and the flat part not that supportive. I can slightly feel a metal wire across my thighs. The back part seems to be too far reclined or too far forward. I've been sliding seats back and forth, up and down and cannot get comfortable.
Has anyone done any mods to improve the seat? I'm not looking to buy seat toppers. I don't want to be lifted up or forward on the seat.
I was wondering if there is a difference in the two seats (sport/touring) as far as frame structure and padding. Is one more firm or larger/smaller than the other, is the side bolstering larger or smaller? My seat foam is supported by springs on the bottom and back. I seem to recall my old protege having a metal base/cup holding the foam which I assume offered better support.
