New owner (maybe?) + Recall Notice!?

I think we need 3 more threads about this.

Agreed its a bolt change, not defective brakes, sudden accelerating, or ignition fires. Toyota, GM, and many others have had worse recalls that caused deaths without a lasting affect to their sales numbers. Some manufactures like Mitsubishi hid safety defects for years from consumers. Give Mazda some credit, they are being proactive on an issue that in all probability will never hurt anyone.

Honda's 2016 Civic models already have a MAJOR recall. Like permanent damage to the engine recall.

Got My CX-5 back on Friday after dropping it off on Thursday. Glad it happened quickly and I was able to get my car back in such quick order!

Dealer called today saying parts were in to fix ours along with the chrome bumper trip guard the factory left off.

That bumper strip is actually an accessory. I put mine on myself...

It was on the window sticker. Dealer blamed factory...who knows. Figured I'd let them do it since it costs nothing.

Could be, some folks have complained lately that theirs didn't come with the retracting cargo cover, while when I bought 3 years ago every one of them on the lot had it.

I had recall done today. Sorry bad picture. This is taken from the rear left. Picture is rotated but shock is on bottom of picture.

They remove this bolt and apply some undercoating.

Bolt is right above #11 in this schematic.

I wonder if the filler tube part was sourced from a different vendor? Different grade steel?

Sometimes production change for improvement or cost saving may back fire to them. This is a perfect example. Only Mazda knows what was really happened.

It took about an hour for my dealer to do this but wasn't really concerned as they ran through their "brushless" carwash before handing vehicle back to me. It gave me a chance to see new Miata and CX-3 up close.

It's funny... when I got there the service rep brought up the free oil change I never took advantage of. I told them I didn't need it but I stressed during visit that they might try to change the oil with non-moly. Fortunately that didn't happen. Nice new "relocated" dealership with large TVs everywhere with Mazda videos playing. They have a vehicle lift in showroom but no vehicle was on it.

So did you ask what's about of the recall? Just changing a bolt or a washer? I haven't checked my recall yet and I may call my dealer to set up an appointment.

You didn't do the free oil change right? May be you should ask them to give you free OEM filter and drain plug washer instead of free oil change on site.

My dealer is an old fashioned grandpa Mazda dealer and they're there since 70's. I like their atmosphere and everything seems going slowly. At least I found a nice and knowledgeable service advisor and he was the one taking care of my PCM software for flexible maintenance on oil change issue I had earlier, And thank you again for pointing me the possible TSB. I showed him the TSB printout, he said that was very helpful and thanked me. After the software upgrades to PCM and infotainment system, they "hand-washed" my CX-5 in the old fashion way.
