New owner (maybe?) + Recall Notice!?

I'd like to know how they found this problem to begin with..

I was going to bring my car in but I decided that one extra trip on our road system posed an unnecessary risk and is likely to be far more dangerous than waiting until my service in May.

Hmmmm, and I wonder who will end up paying for all those "free" loaners in the end. Sounds to me like us calm and collected Mazda clients will end up in a loose loose loose...

You may lose(2 o's in goose/loose) a little now(what exactly I have no idea- ok maybe if you own shares), but rest assured for your brave if not heroic effort I'll bet the Dali Lama himself will grant you total consciousness on your death bed- so you've got that going for you- which is...wait for it...

Seriously, brother please

Especially without Live Traffic alerts in the Navigation system. (nervous)

Just spoke to a dealer. Apparently the fix includes some sort of spray. Did anyone hear anything similar?

Our 2013 likely has a 1/13 build date or something like that. Purchased in May 2013.

Unlikely - I have a 2014 GT, and it was built in December of 2012. If you bought a 2013 in May of 2013, the car would have been built previous to the 2014 model year - you can check when it was built by looking at the door sill plate.

Sorry, I speak French in my daily life, English is my second language ,so I might make a few mistakes once in a while.

I was not speaking of shares prices. I was talking about your next oil change, OEM parts, etc. being a bit more expensive in the future. These things always get dumped back on the consumer. That is all that joy-riding in a "free" Mazda loaner will ever get you and everyone else with any certainty. But as long as you have your fun, who cares right?

Well, I hope the issue gets resolved sooner then later. I just talked to my dealer and they setting me up with a jeep Cherokee latitude. It was either that or a minivan they had. Secretly I was hoping for a mazda6 as I would have loved to take my dad for a drive in it. It's on his short list of cars to buy right now. And it's a Mazda so there is still the zoom zoom. Making my wife happy by not driving the cx-5. It's just not worth it to me to try to convince her otherwise, no matter how small the risk.

Not likely (on significant service price hikes) and honestly I think people are making too much of this on both sides of the argument- people are going to handle the situation as they feel is right and comfortable for them. Will some end up gaming Mazda for a loaner for the sake of opportunity- probably but you know what so be it- they offered it- it is a safety concern- and has the upshot of getting Mazda to handle it quickly.. doesn't make them bad and you a martyr. Maybe the good will on Mazda's part will be remembered by the gamers and make more of them come back for more Mazdas- it certainly won't hurt- personally its my first one and very unlikely to be my last- I just converted my brother from Honda (has a loaded 6 GT) and wife's car will likely be next so no I wouldn't feel bad about it- but evidently this doesn't apply to mine so its thankfully (and hopefully) irrelevant.

I speak French too. Bonjour!
It sounds like the solution (spray?) is pretty simple and wouldn't justify a loaner in the first place.

I have 2 doubts . Just being very very cautious .. I may be wrong also.. Just want to know you guys view

1) Is mazda hiding something ? is this the actual issue ? if it was a small issue of replacing small fuel connection ,why would they have to stop selling the hot cake? Will there be any big issue hiding which they want to inspect and analyze meanwhile?

2) After they fix this issue, still people will be reluctant to buy Cx5 for a while. So demand will go down and hence price also will go down. Competitors will be happy to see it though because CX5 was giving a tough competition to Honda/Toyota/Hyundai etc ..

what you guys think ? Just curious

They stopped sale of new and used (forced or not) sounds justifiable enough to me, where's my free loaner biatches;)

My understanding is that they have stopped selling new cars because they don't want them coming back to have it fixed. Better to deal with it while it is sitting there in their lot. They are probably dealing with existing customers as needed, which I assume would add to the time it takes to get to lot models.

I am sure once this gets rolling you could go in and buy a new CX-5 without much issue, if the fix is as easy as it seems. They are maybe just being cautious to make sure all dealers on on board and ready to go with the fix.

Happy wife, happy life!

And to go way off topic f9r a moment, to our French speakers, I just read that they are changing the spelling of 2,400 French words. MERDE!

About time! French spelling and grammar is so incredibly complex many take a life time to master it, some never do. Much of it dates to times when monks and scribes were payed by the letter to transcribe the bible or other documents by hand, so silent and redundant letters started popping everywhere. Other stuff comes from archaic Latin constructs.

The spelling of that last one you used, I'm quite certain they won't be touching it! ;)

Dropped off my car on Tuesday and they just finished the recall today. I'll be picking it up tonight. They told me over the phone it was a very easy fix. I'll ask more once I pick up the car.

This also avoids the "you sold me a car with a known defect!" problem.
