Took our Mazda in for it's second oil change today with just over 15k on her. They came back saying they wanted to do the following services in addition to the oil change:

- Oil Flush - $60 - I didn't even know this was a thing?
- Fuel Injector Cleaning - $260
- Re-Balance tires - $79
- Front-end Alignment - $99

I obviously declined them all - but I couldn't believe they even offered at 15,000 miles - is this typical?

It seems absurd to me - I feel bad for someone who doesn't really know any better.

I oil flushes have their purpose but on a 2016? Don't let them rip you off.

Lol.. I wonder what the $260 "Fuel Injector Cleaning" service entails?

They called it the "Fuel and Air Induction Service". Apparently they said Mazda recommends it every 15k to "boost MPG" and remove carbon build up on the injectors. She didn't go into detail how it's preformed though. I also asked how much possible carbon could a 2016 with 15k miles have and she didn't have an answer for that either. lol

Did you ask them why they would align only the front end on a vehicle that requires a 4 wheel alignment?

If the factory doesn't recommend it in the owners manual and the vehicle is running good then absolutely not. Ed

No, honestly I didn't mean disrespect but I couldn't help but laugh at her. I just found the whole thing ridiculous.

Let me guess, put a $9 bottle of Chevron in gas tank then take for a test drive. Yup your 2016 fuel injectors and now clean and running well. Come back in 5000 miles for another cleaning.

You might as well buy new injectors every 20,000 miles lol.

You did the right thing. And had an appropriate reaction. I'd find another dealer and express your concern to the service manager (if you feel your time is worth the feedback).

Turnabout?

WOW and I thought my dealer was a RIP!
Of late they offered a clean fogged headlight coupon for FIFTY bucks! Wonder if they use Crest? (LOL).

On further reading of the service specials, I noticed a FULL SYNTHETIC oil change coupon for $50, including an oem Mazda oil filter.

For $50, I will take advantage! I presume that this does NOT include Moly, but I'll still take it. Their oil changer also include a touchless car wash! On my way in for my appt, since this is a Sept special....!!!!

Actually that's not a bad deal, assuming there are no qualifiers and they know what they're doing. I doubt if there are very many CX-5s that need this so early, but I paid a detail shop $95 to do my Miata a couple of years ago.

15k miles in 7 months? Wow. That's a lot of miles.

Btw, I noticed that you also have I-ActiveSense. Were you able to get the rumble strip feature to work on lane departure warning? On mine it always beeps despite me changing the setting to rumble strip.

Yeah, unfortunately my wife drives a little under 600 miles a week for her work commute. We are on track for 30k / year on this car.

Yes, I have it set to rumble strip and it works well for us. I like it because it's not the same beep as the BSM and it also uses only the R or L speaker depending on which side you drift over. Not sure why it doesn't work for you - perhaps next time you are at the dealer they can look at it for you?

Thanks. My wife hates the beeps. But I refuse to turn the feature off. I did once fell asleep at the wheel and left the road. Hence I got the safety package. Sometimes I drift over on purpose to give room to a cyclist or a semi that I'm passing. I wonder if I have newer firmware from yours and there's a bug in the newer firmware. I'm also noticing bugs with the music integration with my iPhone.

The dealer recently updated my firmware to the newest version 55 and I didn't see any differences with the LDW on either version. V.55 did fix an intermittent resetting/crash issue when using Bluetooth audio and Nav the same time though.

Thanks for the heads up. With only 800 miles on the odometer the infotainment system did crash once on me. I removed the SD card and it rebooted. I will have to get the latest firmware.

The LDW problem I have has me scratching my head...

It is fun to read the dealer chapter and verse from the CX-5 manual where it says no fuel additives.
