What have you done to your MSP today?

I think the only true Toyotas that look good and can be powerfully nasty are Celica gts, supras (obviously) and that's not including Lexus or scion. So I think u made a good choice going with a msp

These Tercel's are so light they make a MSP look heavy in comparison. That's its best attribute.. and the gear ratios.. It wouldn't take a lot of HP to make one really move.. but after the standalone and piecing together a turbo kit worth a damn.. there was just NO WAY I was gonna spend that much on a Tercel, lol.. but it CAN be done.

That's true. I guess they're like civics. If u strip/gut it, strap an eBay turbo on it. It'll def move. Sadly enough, it'll beat a stock msp :/ and maybe even a lightly modded one.

Don't wanna hijack the thread, but I do want to show the Tercel when I bought it (totalled) and then after I taught myself to weld..

THATS why it has a "RSURECTD" license plate..

Hopefully I never have to do anything like this to the MSP..

No more tercel stuff, I promise ;)

Drove 1574 out to my new job at a local Brewery in Dripping Springs, popped a coupler off right as I pulled into work so I had to drive home with the car running like a dog. No boost + Turbo ECU dumping fuel= No power whatsoever. Replaced the clamp and buttoned it back up, I think the clamps that were used were bad and can't clamp tight enough.

As for the AWD conversion debate, I think the fact that people have been discussing it for over a decade and not ONE single person has ever done the swap says a lot. The time and money you would have to invest would not be worth the outcome. Yeah you have all wheel drive, great, but the car will be slower, heavier, more difficult to get parts for if they break and hacked from chopping up the floor to make room for the rear diff/subframe and driveshaft. (I know Focus even imported an AWD P5 and still gave up on it) Is AWD really that great? I think RWD is way more fun personally

hence simply importing a properly awd familia from japan and just working on it. no modifying. everything we know about fs engine power still carries over. leave the ze in there, leave the ze ecu in there all the sensors, just add the tuning options and forged parts we all know and love.

but your right. rwd cars typically handle better than awd cars. but you need more static traction for rwd to work. awd definitely better suited to typical road situation.

Alright guys, not to thread jack but I can't make a decision. To make it a little easier financially, I've decided to buy one wheel in the next few months (prolly in September) and then a wheel after that the next month and so forth until I get the complete set of 4 new wheels. Now, I'm stuck between 3 wheels. Here are the specs:

Str 607 18x8.5 +35 $173/wheel

Str 601 17x7.5 +38 $190/wheel

Privat akzent 18x8.5 +40 $216/wheel

What do you guys think?

P.s. once I get new wheels, ill be selling the powdercoated white racing harts on here.

unless you have a fully upgraded suspension, 18s are gonna look rediculous.. and 35s are gonna suck... i guess the 601 could look good. but the middle should be white.

IDK.. I mean.. to each his own. I am not a fan of that BBK style at all. If I was forced to choose one it would be #1.. If I buy new/different wheels for this car, I am looking for something with a backspaced lip on it.. or whatever you call it.. Like this, for example

But it all comes down to your personal taste. Get what you like the most..

Those actually look clean but it looks like it may be too low of an offset for our MSPs. What brand and model are those anyway?

I am pretty sure they will fit, I found them on TireCenter dot com. Found them just by searching for 17" wheels for our car..

I am having issues getting it to load now.. their site may be having difficulty.

I found these on discount tire.. I dont know why I am having issues with tire center. These are konigs with a pretty deep inset

EDIT: I FINALLY got tire center to load. those first ones were:

Brand: US Mags
Style: Rambler - U425
Finish: Polished

why dont you just stash money in a sock for a couple months and buy wheels/tires together... installed, shipped ready to be put on the car? what good does it do you to have A wheel sitting around... just saying...

If you can't afford the wheels just wait, your plan doesn't really make any sense especially considering you are getting married. And IMO don't buy knockoff wheels, they look and are cheap. Used quality wheels will be a much better and safer bet, you are better off sticking with the Racing Harts.
