so, you liked the cx5 2.0? robin is getting one and i'm telling her to get the 2.5? all the reviews say it so lackluster a motor?

I could easily see why the Japanese didn't feel the need for any more power out of the 2.0L. But I can also see why the Americans don't find the 2.0L powerful enough. For me, the 2.0L was adequate and lively enough despite the weight of the CX-5. It handled highways and backroads just fine, and provided plenty of power for any "daily driver" needs. Even with a 2.5L, you will be using less than the 2.0L's power 95% of the time.

There just wasn't an extra amount on on tap, so you couldn't suddenly surge forward in acceleration if you didn't plan ahead to do so. That's really the only difference. The better peak power of the 2.5L means that you don't have to think as far ahead to what you will be doing, which is something very American-like. The 2.0L just requires more forethought.

I'd get the 2.5L if we got one, because I'd probably also be looking to tow the MSM (with a front wheel dolley) if we did, and for that the power difference would mean quite a lot.

If I was buying one just for DD, around town, etc... I'd just get the base FWD 2.0L. For that though, I'd probably opt for the cheaper 3.

oh ya, just bought a cx5 touring tonight, replacing the trib which is off to NC to my daughter who needs more dependable transportation.

If it has headrest speakers and the "headlights go up" button, I'm sold.

Wish they would have kept headrest speakers, I know I'd appreciate them. Currently shopping for new door speakers. Initially I was going to drop the coin for Clearwaters but have been reading they aren't worth the premium.

in the mail tomorrow brotha...i forgot, whats wrong with yours?

Spring on the button broke and it sticks in Park. In order to remove the keys, she has to hit the shift knob for it to 'release'.

Thanks again!

Really? At least they didn't get me bending over the other way. (rlaughing) My neighbors kid came over one day and says "hey, do you know there's a pic of you on google maps washing the cars?" He thought it was hilarious....teengage boys. haha

morning, love the (robins) cx5! the 2.5 was worth the extra cash, it just gives you want you need when you need it! handles great, love the bluetooth...and the styling...KODO! the trib is off to NC next weekend. my youngest has a new kid and with all the stuff and her 02 focus at 180k (Trib @ 74k) is making all sorts of bad noise the timing is good for both of us. the son in law is flying up to help his mom and dad move and he's driving it home. i will say, after 5 yrs, that suv ran great. the 4 was a bit under powered, but not much...it held up well! we'll miss her....looking forward to taking the cx5 on a trip...see if i can squeeze out 30+ on the 2.5.

Good afternoon! Got quite the deluge of rain this morning. Poured for about five minutes and then cleared up. Hoping I won't have to work tonight.

Got it yesterday and installed it! Works like new and Kaila is very happy which means I am. ;) You never did tell me how much for shipping, that's ok I still have the box in the garage. :p Thanks for the extra bits too, I'll keep 'em on hand...just-in-case.

Nice Jeff, I didn't know you could bend that!!

How do you like it? Does it have the 2 or 2.5

I'm not 'that old'.....yet.

Good choice. If it wasn't for the awesome deal I got on my 3, I would have bought a CX-5. I love the 2.5L motor.

I think you missed a spot. :P

(butt) Kiss it. (evil)

The old girl turned 125k this week

Damn! Will be time to trade her in soon for an ND.

With the grandkids in NC, I don't think it will be too long before a road trip is logged.

I'm telling you.. if they put a diesel mill in a cx-5, I'd buy one tomorrow.

Buy a CX-5 and then have a 'diesel install meet'. Win-win. :D

Glad it worked out Jeffy! You can buy me a beer next time we meet up! I really wanted to wait for the diesel as well, but the timing didn't work out. Not sure we'll ever see it? We could do a swap but it would probably be better to sell it and buy the diesel when it comes out, it's a turbo too?
