Lewis7789 MS6 GT build thread

Perfectly fine and very fun. Until the roads are wet. I went to a local meet with a few of the fellas last night but ducked out early due to the threat of rain. It was lightly raining on the way home and the fastest I could go safely was about 65mph. I felt like I was crawling... But these R888's are awesome when it's dry and highway entrance/exit ramps are a blast. But they will be replaced with Hankook RS-3's in the same size next week.

Ermergerd, Ivan is the man! He has a 3D printer at work and hooked a brotha up with some custom emblems. lol!

Had a great track day at Mid-Ohio yesterday. Will was once again my instructor/Yoda/Stig and was super helpful. The car was feeling great but for 2-3 weird hicups at the higher RPM on the long straights. Tires felt good. I still need to work on braking later and harder when necessary. I think Will said my fastest lap was a 1:51.9 or something.

I did of course have to have an issue. Or else it wouldn't be a typical track day for me. My stupid vented oil cap was spewing oil on the VC and turbo heat shield. I pulled in to park after my second session and noticed the motor was smoking. First I crapped myself then I popped the hood to see where it was coming from. I just drained my OCC a couple weeks ago but thought it was full or something. So while "removing" the allen bolt for the OCC drain I threaded it into the OCC. I'm so stupid. But the OCC was only about 1/3 full. So not sure why it was blowing out the oil cap filter. I think I might just put the regular cap back on since I've never popped my dipstick before. But Will and Jake to save the day, Jake knew it was a 1/4 NPT plug and Will gave me a ride to the local hardware store and all is well and I was able to enjoy the rest of my day before the rain came.

Will and I:

Oil cap ka-plewey:

yes, we have crazy issues with crank case pressure under boost so that will give a place for the pressure to escape. I have a vented oil catch can. when the crank case pressure gets too high and has nowhere to vent (other than the vent out the valve cover to the intake) it can "pop" the oil dip stick and thats a bad day, just ask Ivan. His motor is still dirty from those couple time. But that was user error.

Yeah, Ivan's was popping because he had his OCC lines backwards. Have you ever popped a dipstick, Patrick? Ever hear of anyone local who has?

I mean, it makes sense as a precaution. But if it means spraying oil all over fuuuuuuuck this thing.

Is the stock 2.3L DISI PCV system that inadequate or does it not have one at all? I'm only speaking from my experience with Proteges but excessive crankcase pressure usually meant a failed PCV system. In my case I installed heavy duty check valves on either side of the oil catch can and that fixed any issues.

No I have not. Not anyone on he ko4. Only time I hear about it is on BT's and some sort of installer error

Jon, I have no idea. I don't know these motors very well at all.

Will, no way, bro. Anything with a K&N filter on it looks awesome and BRC, bro.
(I agree it looks stupid and expensive at $75)

$5 worth of Menchies and the trunk handle you ordered and we'll call it a deal.

PCV system on the DISI isn't the best, that's for sure.

Yay pictars!

I forgot to set my dampers to full stiff... lulz

You can almost hear me saying "Well, s***...". haha

I know you didn't really get to push her and she's on winter tires right now but in your opinion, does anything need tweaking or modded?

I'm pretty happy with how she sits right now but it's always helpful to have another opinion. :)
