if you want to boost your protege, the easiest way is to find someone selling a stock MSP setup and buy it off of them. Do a DIY intercooler setup from ebay and go from there. Just a fair warning, once you boost it, you will always want more. Be sure to invest in a set of gauges, boost and wideband air/fuel to be exact. As far as the transmission goes, you can never go wrong with a Mfactory LSD. If you plan to stay under 250whp, that would be all you would need really for a pretty quick and fun setup. But more importantly, tuning is where your power is going to come from. Most people here run with the SSAFC(Split Second Air/Fuel Controller). You don't gain any power with it, but you get a pretty smooth powerband.(this is when using a MSP ECU) But if you really want a solid tune and some good power, a standalone is what you want. Haltech Sprint 500 with a plug and play extension is what you want. Everything else is just daily upkeep/preventative maintenance.
