Apparently he ran over something in the road. I don't think it was ever determined wtf he hit.

Going to check out this carnage on my phone. Holy s***! I've never seen anything like that either. Now is a great time to upgrade wheels.

This is what my father-in-laws tire looked like after he drove on it flat for some distance.

Maybe. But a tire iron or something else dark colored that blended in with the pavement, you may not have.

It is and the damage was worse on the backside.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. Got my old wheels from the Honda refinished and slapped on the MSM. I'm digging it so far.
