Larger disk brakes?

I'm not after name brand "Big brakes", because I know I can get K-Sport to fit for $1800. Is there another Mazda with the same bolt pattern and brake package with larger disks that would bolt straight on? I know with some other car brands that the cheap model has exactly the same front and rear hubs as the more powerful model and the brakes are interchangeable. I just want to fill up the 16"s on a budget lol.

Nope, offset, deck, hangers, thread engaugement, and sweep on inbound side are different from any other make/model etc. Bolt pattern and bore size are the easy part. You could custom out a set but prices are higher than K-sport.

What specific problem are you trying to fix? Why the extra rotating mass? Are your brakes fading badly on the track?

I am wondering the same thing. I have not been able to cook a set of DTC 60s with the stock calipers and rotors all this year racing.

I see plenty of reasonably nice cars getting around with big rims and then you look behind at the teeny little brakes...

This Sunday I saw a 1908 car with something like 25-30 inch wheels. Very Old Skool!

The total wheel weight should be as light as possible in order to enjoy best brake and acceleration performance. As far as looks, Form Follows Function as one great architect used to say.

I was going to go with a simple disc swap for some dimpled and slotted, but I can only find stuff for DY.

I would be happy with oem size performance rotors with Hawk pads, but with larger wheels the tiny rotors would look like crap for sure. Maybe Corksport could make us a kit :)

Just get some of those "disc brake dust covers" that look like nice big brake rotors from 100 feet away. Those are cool!

lol, sorry but not for me. Nice drilled/slotted rotors, even oem size with painted calipers behind a set of 15x7.5-8" or 16x7" would be good enough for looks and performance. Big brakes would be great tho for the track days, and a rear disk conversion would be sweet too.

I have a feeling if the Mazda2 sticks around for 2014 then well see a rear disk from factory. The Yaris 2013 is now offered with rear disks standard. Since Toyota will be competing in SCCA B-Spec I think Mazda will up the game. Afterall the Yaris is a great little car, I think, at least on paper its better than the 2. I was going to buy one, but then got the 2 instead because I wanted a 4 door hatch.
